TALK ABOUT HOW OFTEN YOU DO THINGS (Habla sobre qué tan seguido haces las cosas)

INTRODUCTION (Introducción)Para hablar sobre qué tan seguido hacemos las cosas, usamos los adverbios de frecuencia.

El tema de los adverbios de frecuencia es unos en los que hay que poner especial cuidado, sobre todo porque hay diversas formas de estructurar las oraciones al utilizarlos.

Usamos los adverbios de frecuencia para decir “qué tan seguido” hacemos tal o cual actividad.

Lo relevante de estos adverbios es que no cambian, dependiendo del tipo de persona que estemos hablando.

Para el uso adecuado de los adverbios de frecuencia, dependerá mucho la posición de éstos en la oración:

Un adverbio de frecuencia va antes que el VERBO Principal.

Subject + FREQUENCY ADVERB + Main VERBI always eat cereal for breakfast.She usually exercises on Mondays.They sometimes play here.We never buy oranges.

Un adverbio de frecuencia va después que el Verbo TO BE.

Subject + to be + FREQUENCY ADVERBThey are never pleased to see me.She is always happy.It is sometimes bored.You are ever on time.

Un adverbio de frecuencia va en medio de el verbo Auxiliar (can, would, might, could, have, will, must, etc.) y el VERBO Principal.

Subject + Auxiliary + FREQUENCY ADVERB + Main VERBShe can sometimes beat me in a race.I would ever be unkind to someone.They might never see each other again.They could occasionally talk in the chat.

Solamente los adverbios de frecuencia “Sometimes” y “Usually” pueden ir tanto al principio, como al final de la oración.

Usually, I’m late.Sometimes I watch TV.The Internet is slow, sometimes.They go to eat pizza usually.

En el caso de que se quiera realizar preguntas sobre qué tan seguido hacemos las cosas, se usan las palabras “How often”.
