Talegaon, a small town in the heart of Sahayadri ranges is almost 330 ft higher than Lonavala from the sea level and hence is believed to have the best weather in Maharashtra. A cool weather, pleasant atmosphere and fresh air prevail here throughout the year (the lowest temperature recorded here has been 4C while the highest was 28C).

Previously it was also known to be a place to heal asthama and tuberculosis patients just with its fresh and healthy atmosphere without any kind of medication.

Talegaon has a very big Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) center where more than 1,000 families are residing.Two big industrial belts are situated at the east of Talegaon,Chakan Industrial Area and Pimpri Chinchwad Industrial Area which is claimed to be Asia's largest Industrial belt.

Staff and workers of these industrial areas reside at Talegaon. Apart from these local employees, people from cities like Mumbai, Nasik, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune etc. also prefer Talegaon to dwell permanently or spend holidays. Its historic recognition, excellent weather, several beautiful locations and its vicinity to cities are not the only reasons that attract several families to Talegaon. Educational Aspects Considering the educational aspect, apart from 13 regular schools in Marathi and 2 in English medium, Talegaon also has an international school 'Heritage' at village Ambi. Its aim is to eventually emerge as a Maritime University.Talegaon also has a prominent medical college 'Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education and Research (MIMER) established in 1995. The college is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nasik. A full - fledged undergraduate course in Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) of four and a half years duration is conducted at this college. Oneyear internship is mandatory on the completion of four-year degree course to receive the certificate and registration. The 500-bed multi-speciality Talegaon General Hospital supplements all practical and internship requirements of the undergraduate program. The indoor and OPD patients are treated round the clock with the help of resident and honorary consulting doctor.

Next to CRPF campus at Talegaon, Horticulture Training Center has been started which is a synergy between Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board (MSAMB), Pune, Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) and Practical Training Center (PTC) of Netherlands.

Indian Industry especially the floriculture, auto, steel and IT industry has discovered Talegaon and have set up shop at MIDC Talegaon. The wheather is the biggest plus for the floriculture industry and the proximity to the auto hub at pune and the IT talent at Hijewadi and pune make it an ideal industrial location. Only non polluting processing and assembling plants are situated at Talegaon to ensure that there is no polluting effluents and gases which would otherwise effect the atmosphere and weather. Some of the companies that have made Talegaon MIDC their home are General Motors, L & T, JCB, Posco Steel, Essar Steel, IMA Bearing among others who are still thronging the area. This is in addition to the ever-growing Floriculture set ups. This has lead to an increased employment among the locals in Talegaon and a steady influx of migrant population which has come in and will keep coming in to work for these corporates. The company, named Joseph Cyril Barndford, is one of the worlds top five construction equipment poducers. GENERAL MOTORS INDIA(GMI) General Motors India has kicked off work on its Rs1,300 crore greenfield plant at Talegaon, Maharashtra ,new plant set on 300 acres, is likely to go into production by the third quarter of 2008.

FLORICULTURE PARKS Over 250 acres of land at Talegaon is being developed by MIDC as a floriculture park for production of superior quality flowers which is in demand in International Markets. The area is situated in the Agriculture Export Zone declared by the Govt.of India and internal infrastructure such as roads, water & electricity distribution network etc. is been developed by MIDC. International Airport With the state government clearing, in principle, the long-awaited airport project for pune at CHAKAN, the city came one step closer to becoming a global centre for agricultural exports.
