Solutions of Butvar resin render fabrics water-proof, stain and abrasion resistant while retaining the advantages of machine laundering. Such fabric coatings are transparent—invisible on any kind of textile fiber base including nylon, viscose, rayon, fibrous glass. When cured, these elastomeric coatings become an integral part of the fabric; the hand stays soft and dry with no tackiness to the touch.

As a co-resin, Butvar offers numerous improvements to coatings—barrier, laminating and surface finish types. It cross-links with phenolics, epoxies, ureas, iso-cyanates, melamines to improve coating uniformity and adhesion, increase toughness, and minimize cratering.
