Today LEONI is one of the world market leaders in special cables. Right from the
beginning – having made cable since 1930 – LEONI has focused on production of
cable specialties and has steadily expanded this business. We have done so on the
one hand by extending our own production and associated expertise and, on the
other hand, by enlarging the range of products and services we offer by acquiring
other efficient cable manufacturers.
Focus on the customer, profound market and product knowledge, innovative
production technologies and a high degree of vertical integration are the basis for
perfect cable solutions – from personal consultation on site to tailor-made special
cables and ready-to-fit cable systems through to customised logistic concepts.
LEONI is at home in numerous markets: in automation and robotics, rolling stock
engineering, medical equipment and in industrial plant engineering – to name
only the most significant. The shipbuilding, naval vessels, marine and offshore
engineering sector is an area of particular specialisation.
LEONI Group is an internationally successful manufacturer of wires and
cables for electrical systems and electronics as well as of wiring systems
for car manufacturing. The company employs about 34,000 people at
more than 60 facilities in 21 countries. Consolidated sales amounted to
€ 1.25 billion in 2004.

Comprehensive engineering
Our strengths – Your benefit
Research and Development
We invite you to benefit from the globally interlinked know-how of the LEONI
Group and the work done by our Corporate Research & Development department.
Through R&D projects across different divisions of LEONI we benefit from synergies
within the group and thereby give innovation an additional boost.
A high degree of vertical integration in cable production
This is something virtually no other cable manufacturer can boast: from extremely
thin copper wire – if required also silver-plated and with multiple coatings –
through to sophisticated hybrid cables, we make everything in house. For only com-
ponents that are perfectly matched will guarantee optimum results.
Cable systems
We offer ready-to-connect and ready-to-fit assembled cable systems and fully
wired modules.
Global presence
We are represented in all of the world’s key industrial regions with our own produc-
tion facilities and you will find us nearby for supporting your projects.
We ensure maximum efficiency with the highest possible
standards of engineering and by developing tailor-made solutions.

Focus on the customer
Proximity to the customer is not just a catchphrase for LEONI, but rather a key
element of our corporate philosophy. It is also a factor crucial to our business suc-
cess. This is why we have set up organisational units that take care of a precisely
defined group of customers and a very specific market. The resulting know-how
is not only of inestimable value to LEONI but also offers substantial advantages to
our customers.
The „Tailor-Made Solutions“ Business Unit
Most of LEONI Group’s special cable operations are combined in this unit. Its activi-
ties break down as follows
Tailor-Made Cable Solutions
Tailor-Made Assembly Solutions
Tailor-Made Robotic Solutions.
While the name of the Robotic and Assembly Solutions unit already spells out its
area of expertise (cable for robot-related requirements as well as cable assembly),
the scope of the Tailor-Made Cable Solutions unit’s operations is much broader.
There are, for instance, teams dedicated specifically to rolling stock engineering as
well as shipbuilding and marine engineering.

Many of our customers purchasing worldwide emphasise on their suppliers being
companies with social responsibility. Child labour is an obsolute taboo! LEONI can
be considered exemplary especially in this matter.
The Group therefore, considering its international focus and more than 60 facilities
around the world, in April 003 issued a “Declaration on Social Rights and Industrial
Relations” signed by the management board of LEONI AG, the chair of the LEONI
Euro Works Council and the secretary general of the International Metalworkers’
Federation (IMF), which covers matters like equal treatment of all employees and
child labour. This declaration is binding on all LEONI employees.
With respect to child labour, Section 1.5 states the following:
No child labour
Child labour is prohibited. The minimum age for employment eligibility in line with
the respective government stipulations shall be observed. Health and safety shall
not be compromised. Personal dignity shall be respected.

and a DIN / ISO 9001:000 compliant quality assurance system provide the
required safety and quality for our products.
Quality and safety based on
precise planning, testing using the latest testing equipment and
methods as well as documentation
preventive quality assurance by means of error-preventing tools such as
machinery and process capability analyses
100 % online process control (SPC = Statistical Process Control)
supplier, customer and product audits
LEONI environmental management
For us business success and ecological responsibility are not contradictory.
As an industrial company we admit our responsibility for the protection of
natural living conditions. It is our aim to balance the people’s ambition,
environmental converns and the interests of our Company. Environmental
protection consequently is a mandatory element of our business activity at
LEONI. Some of our major production facilities, including the cable plants
in Roth and Friesoythe, are certified to the DIN ISO 14001 environmental
standard.
