CBGA Newsletter 1 Winter 2017 Dean’s Dash Dr. Ross Dickens, Dean College of Business and Global Affairs The newsletter features the excellent accomplishments and adventures of CBGA students, faculty, and staff as usual. I will note three other events not presented below. First, the College had 29 students from last Fall’s Governmental and Not-for-Profit accounting course complete the Ethical Leadership Certification Program offered by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy’s Center for Public Trust (CPT). The College is working to expand this pilot program. Second, the College had two of its students, Ryan Stevenson and Andrew Terrell, become the first to earn Bloomberg Certification on the Bloomberg Terminal installed in the remodeled Murray Investment Lab. Dr. Ty Perry is broadening that accomplishment by having all of his current FIN 411 students work toward earning the certification as part of the course requirements. Third, the College announced Mr. John Clark as the Interim Director of the Dunagan Chair of Excellence in Banking Office. Mr. Clark joins the College after retiring from Simmons Bank. CBGA’s pursuit of student-focused excellence shows in the following pages and we ask for your support in three ways. First, direct worthy prospective students to the College. Second, provide us with updates of your life successes. Third, consider making a financial gift. We promise to continue to use our time and talents to keep your alma mater a source of great pride for you. UTM/CBGA was represented at the Super Bowl for the fourth consecutive year when the game kicked off February 5, in Houston, Texas. A group of nine business students worked behind the scenes gaining valuable real-world experience in the hospitality and sport business industries.

UT Martin is one of only two universities permitted to send students to work in player hospitality and venue services this year. Participating students are largely responsible for coordinating autograph signings, escorting visiting players between event locations and making sure everyone stays on schedule during both pre-and post-game activities. Dr. Dexter Davis, associate professor of sport business, accompanied the students. This year marks Davis’ 12th Super Bowl, and he has led the UT Martin travel-study experience for the past four years.
