Product definition

SASIL strips are 3-polepluggable strip-typeswitch-disconnector-fuses.The strips are equippedwith an operator-independ-ent snap-action mechanismand manually-operatedmechanism for clear posi-tion indication andaccomodate 3 LV HRCfuse-links in accordancewith DIN 43620, sizes00/160A to 3/630A.

All SASIL strips have plug-incontacts and can be se-curely plugged in an uprightfield distributor busbar sys-tem of 10mm thickness and185mm distance betweenbusbar centres using thecorresponding strip guides.A screw terminal for cablelug connection is availableat the output side. A screwterminal for cable lug con-nection is available at theoutput side. The interlock-ing mechanism in the han-dle prevents the strip cover

from opening in the con-nected state. A dou-ble-break feature (upstreamand downstream of thefuse) allows a safe ex-change of the fuse.

Applications

SASIL strips are mainlyused for system, cable andmotor protection inthree-phase systems up to690V in main andsubdistribution boards oflow voltage assemblies inaccordance with IEC/EN60439-1 (TTA/PTTA), for in-dustrial, power station andbuilding services applica-tions. Their horizontal fit-ting and compact dimen-sions allow a large numberof cable outlets to be fittedin a limited space. A uni-form width, depth and griddimension of 25mm of thestrip height (50mm, 75mm,150mm) enable a rapid en-gineering and mounting ofthe strips with differentcomponent sizes used in

the switchgear cabinet. Thecontrol line and auxiliarycircuit systems are con-tacted automatically via theterminal strip / socket con-nector system when theSASIL strip is plugged in.

The device accessories arefactory-fitted in the SASILstrip.

CURRENT MEASUREMENT1-phase current measure-ment by N/1A or N/5Atransformers, class 1, in ac-cordance with VDE 0414, fit-ted in phase L1. The follow-ing transformer ratios areavailable:50A/75A/100A/150A/200A/250A/400A/600A. Thetransformers can be wiredup either internally on ameasuring device or exter-nally on a push-on terminalstrip.

All transformers can be op-erated open for an unlim-ited period of time.In the case of a cable infeed(Z version), the transform-ers are installed „back tofront“ (turned through180°).

MEASURING DEVICESIt is possible to use 48mm x48mm measuring devicesas class 1.5 moving iron cur-rent meters or bimetalliccurrent meters (from atransformer ratio of 150A)with an average value dis-play of T=8min. or T=15min.Bimetallic current metersprovide a maximum valuedisplay by resettable slavepointers.Moving iron current metershave a dial with 2-fold over-load area, while bimetalliccurrent meters have a dial

with 1.2-fold overload area.

SASIL strips are 3-polepluggable strip-typeswitch-disconnector-fuses.The strips are equippedwith an operator-independ-ent snap-action mechanismand manually-operatedmechanism for clear posi-tion indication andaccomodate 3 LV HRCfuse-links in accordancewith DIN 43620, sizes00/160A to 3/630A, and 3current transformers.All SASIL strips have plug-incontacts and can be se-curely plugged in an uprightfield distributor busbar sys-tem of 10mm thickness and185mm distance betweenbusbar centres using thecorresponding strip guides.A screw terminal for cablelug connection is availableat the output side.The interlocking mecha-nism in the handle pre-vents the strip cover fromopening in the connectedstate. A double-break fea-ture (upstream and down-stream of the fuse) allows asafe exchange of the fuse.

Applications

SASIL strips are mainlyused for system, cable andmotor protection inthree-phase systems up to690V in main andsubdistribution boards oflow voltage assemblies inaccordance with IEC/EN60439-1 (TTA/PTTA), for in-

dustrial, power station andbuilding services applica-tions. Their horizontal fit-ting and compact dimen-sions allow a large numberof cable outlets to be fittedin a limited space.A uniform width, depth andgrid dimension of 25mm ofthe strip height (50mm,75mm, 150mm) enable arapid engineering andmounting of the strips withdifferent component sizesused in the switchgear cab-inet.

The control line and auxil-iary circuit systems are con-tacted automatically via theterminal strip / socket con-nector system when theSASIL strip is plugged in.

Product construction

The device accessories arefactory-fitted in the SASILstrip.

CURRENT MEASUREMENT3-phase current measure-ment by N/1A or N/5Atransformers, class 1 orclass 0.5, in accordancewith VDE 0414. Class 0.5transformers can be certi-fied. The following trans-former ratios are available:50A/75A/100A/150A/200A/250A/400A/600A. Thetransformers can be wiredup either internally on ameasuring device or exter-nally on a push-on terminalstrip.

All transformers can be op-erated open for an unlim-ited period of time.In the case of a cable infeed(Z version), the transform-ers are installed „back tofront“ (turned through180°).

MEASURING DEVICESIt is possible to use 48mm x48mm measuring devicesas class 1.5 moving iron cur-rent meters or bimetalliccurrent meters (from atransformer ratio of 150A)with an average value dis-play of T=8min. or T=15min.Bimetallic current metersprovide a maximum valuedisplay by resettable slavepointers.Moving iron current metershave a dial with 2-fold over-load area, while bimetalliccurrent meters have a dialwith 1.2-fold overload area.

POSITION INDICATOR1 make contact and 1 breakcontact, wired up on apush-on terminal strip, forexternal indication.

PUSH-ON TERMINAL STRIPfor wiring of the externalauxiliary circuits.

ELECTRONIC FUSE MONI-TORIndicates fuse failure by afrontal LED and relays thefault signal to the push-onterminal strip viamake/break contacts.

MEASURING MODULE EEThe strip is equipped withan electronic monitoringmodule EE for connectionto the PLMaster energymanagement system. Linevoltage to be monitored:3AC400V-690V; controlvoltage: DC24V. The moni-toring module is equippedwith an additional relay out-put for external indicationof fuse/phase failure to thepush-on terminal strip.

All SASIL strips have plug-incontacts and can be se-curely plugged in an uprightfield distributor busbar sys-tem of 10mm thickness and185mm distance betweenbusbar centres using thecorresponding strip guides.A screw terminal for cable

lug connection is availableat the output side.The interlocking mecha-nism in the handle pre-vents the strip cover fromopening in the connectedstate. A double-break fea-ture (upstream and down-stream of the fuse) allows asafe exchange of the fuse.

Applications

SASIL strips with EE moni-toring module are mainlyused for system, cable andmotor protection inthree-phase systems up to690V in main andsubdistribution boards oflow voltage assemblies inaccordance with IEC/EN60439-1 (TTA/PTTA), for in-dustrial, power station andbuilding services applica-tions in which ongoing pro-cesses have to be moni-tored, particularly in thechemical industry, automo-tive industry, public build-ings and system manufac-turing. Their horizontal fit-ting and compact dimen-sions allow a large numberof cable outlets to be fittedin a limited space.

A uniform width, depth andgrid dimension of 25mm ofthe strip height (50mm,75mm, 150mm) enable a

rapid engineering andmounting of the strips withdifferent component sizesused in the switchgear cab-inet.

The control line and auxil-iary circuit systems are con-tacted automatically via theterminal strip / socket con-nector system when theSASIL strip is plugged in.

The device accessories arefactory-fitted in the SASILstrip.

The strips areequipped with an opera-tor-independent snap-ac-tion mechanism and manu-ally-operated mechanismfor clear position indicationand accomodate 3 LV HRCfuse-links in accordancewith DIN 43620, size3/630A.All SASIL coupling stripshave 6 plug-in contacts andcan be securely plugged inan upright field distributorbusbar system of 10mmthickness and 185mm dis-tance between busbar cen-tres using the correspond-ing strip guides. SASIL double strips consistof two 3-pole pluggablestrip-typeswitch-disconnector-fuseswith a common manu-ally-operated mechanism.The strips are equippedwith an operator-independ-ent snap-action mechanismand accomodate six LV HRCfuse-links in accordancewith DIN 43620, sizes00/160A to 3/630A.All SASIL strips have plug-incontacts and can be se-curely plugged in an uprightfield distributor busbar sys-tem of 10mm thickness and185mm distance betweenbusbar centres using thecorresponding strip guides.A screw terminal for cablelug connection is availableat the output side.The interlocking mecha-nism in the handle pre-vents the strip cover fromopening in the connectedstate. A double-break fea-ture (upstream and down-stream of the fuse) allows asafe exchange of the fuse.

Applications

SASIL double strips aremainly used for loads with

parallel supply inthree-phase systems up to690V in main andsubdistribution boards oflow voltage assemblies inaccordance with IEC/EN60439-1 (TTA/PTTA), for in-dustrial, power station andbuilding services applica-tions.

The control line and auxil-iary circuit systems are con-tacted automatically via theterminal strip / socket con-nector system when theSASIL strip is plugged in.

Product construction

The device accessories arefactory-fitted in the SASILstrip.

CURRENT MEASUREMENT3-phase current measure-ment by N/1A or N/5Atransformers, class 1, in ac-cordance with VDE 0414.The following transformerratios are available:150A/250A/400A/600A.The transformers can bewired up either internally ona measuring device or ex-ternally on a push-on termi-nal strip. All transformerscan be operated open foran unlimited period of time.

In the case of a cable infeed(Z version), the transform-ers are installed „back tofront“ (turned through180°).

MEASURING DEVICESIt is possible to use 48mm x48mm measuring devicesas class 1.5 moving iron cur-rent meters or bimetalliccurrent meters (from atransformer ratio of 150A)with an average value dis-play of T=8min. or T=15min.Bimetallic current metersprovide a maximum valuedisplay by resettable slavepointers. Moving iron cur-rent meters have a dial with2-fold overload area, whilebimetallic current metershave a dial with 1.2-foldoverload area.

POSITION INDICATOR1 make contact and 1 breakcontact, wired up on apush-on terminal strip, forexternal indication.

PUSH-ON TERMINAL STRIPfor wiring of the externalauxiliary circuits.

Their horizontal fit-ting and compact dimen-sions allow a large numberof cable outlets to be fittedin a limited space.

A uniform width, depth andgrid dimension of 25mm ofthe strip height (50mm,75mm, 150mm) enable a

rapid engineering andmounting of the strips withdifferent component sizesused in the switchgear cab-inet.The control line and auxil-iary circuit systems are con-tacted automatically via theterminal strip / socket con-nector system when theSASIL strip is plugged in.

The SASIL system accesso-ries allow a wide range ofswitchgear cabinets to beprepared for easy fitting ofSASILswitch-disconnector-fuses.Simple profiles and coversdivide the cabinets into de-vice, busbar and cablecompartments.

Applications

Fitting of components inswitchgear cabinets for lowvoltage assemblies(TTA/PTTA in accordancewith IEC/EN 60439-1) incompliance with system en-gineering specifications.

Product construction

SWITCHING CABINET PRO-FILE KITThis kit is required for theexpansion of switchgearcabinet systems whichhave not been prepared forthe fitting of SASIL compo-nents during manufacture.It consists of four sectionsand serves as a base sup-port for all built-in compo-nents of the system acces-sories.

BUSBAR SUPPORTThe 3-pole type-testedbusbar support is used toaccomodate the field dis-

tributor busbar system. It issuitable for flat copperbusbars with cross-sectionsof 40mm x 10mm to100mm x 10mm. The sup-port is fixed at theswitchgear cabinet usingfixing plates or fixing brack-ets.A special version with clos-ing plate for the bottombusbar support is alsoavailable.

BUSBAR COVERThe 150mm high busbarcover or cable compartmentcover is used for probe-safeIP20 separation of the cabi-net busbar compartmentfrom the device compart-ment and cable compart-ment. Thiscompartmentalization pro-vides increased personneland operational safety ofthe switching station andallows working while thesystem is energized.

BUSBAR DISCONNECTIONKITThe kit is used with lowvoltage assemblies, forsectionalizing the field dis-tributor busbars. It is in-serted in the busbar sup-ports SST-185/10010.

STRIP GUIDEStrip guides allow easymounting of the SASILstrips in the switchgear cab-

inet using their push-in de-sign. They enable theSASIL strips to be mountedwhile the system is ener-gized.Each SASIL strip is securedwith four M5x20 screws(not included).The strip guides alsoaccomodate the socketconnector, cable separatorand closing lock-out.

CABLE SEPARATORThe cable separator kit isused for IP20 separation ofthe cabinet cable compart-ment from the device com-partment.

SOCKET CONNECTORThe 16-pole socket connec-tor is the customer terminalof the SASIL strips for con-trol and auxiliary circuit wir-ing. The independentmounting of the socket con-nector at the strip guidealso allows unequipped re-serve spaces to beprewired.

CLOSING LOCK-OUTThe closing lock-out pre-vents incorrectly mountedSASIL strips from beingconnected. All closinglock-outs are clipped intothe respective strip guides.

Product definition

The SASIL device mountingsystem extends the fusecombination system by an-other module. Mountingplates and device mountingmodules, available with orwithout voltage tap andwith various moduleheights ranging from100mm to 600mm, enablelow voltage assemblies tobe expanded as required.

Thus other devices such ascircuit-breakers, motorstarter combinations, mod-ular installation devices etc.can be positioned in thesame switchgear cabinet inwhich SASIL strips are fit-ted, which saves consider-able space in the cabinet.

Applications

The SASIL device mountingsystem is mounted in allcommercially availableswitchgear cabinets inwhich SASIL strips can bemounted. It allows SASILstrips, mounting plates, de-vice mounting modules andsupply modules to bemounted in the sameswitchgear cabinet andwith a common field dis-tributor busbar system. Thisenables a state-of-the-artmodular construction of

low voltage assemblies inaccordance with IEC/EN60439-1.

Product construction

MOUNTING PLATESMounting plates arescrew-fixed at the two rearswitching cabinet profiles.There are closed versionswith aperture for the volt-age tap kit and versionswith system holes (5.3mmdrill holes and 12.5mmspacing).

SUPPLY MODULEThe supply module allowsthe field distributor busbarsystem to be supplied. Theplug-in contacts are de-signed for rated currents upto 630A. Higher supply cur-rents require two or moremodules.

DEVICE MOUNTING MOD-ULEDevice mounting moduleswith integrated mountingplate are available for dif-ferent expansion versions.From a module height of200mm, they can be pro-vided with a voltage tap tothe field distributor busbar.The supplied guides alloweasy contacting of the fielddistributor busbar. Themodules are fixed at thetwo frontal cabinet profiles.

Prepared modules for mod-ular installation devicesand bus-mounting fuse-ele-ments are also available.

DEVICE DOORDoors for mounting platesand device mounting mod-ules are available withmodule heights of 100mmto 600mm. Versions withinspection window are alsoavailable.The doors are fixed at thefrontal left cabinet profileusing the supplied hingesand are locked using a3mm two-way key bit.

TERMINAL COMPARTMENTSEPARATORTerminal compartment sep-arators and flange platesprovide IP20 separation ofthe cabinet device compart-ment from the cable com-partment. Separators mustbe ordered separately withmounting plates, but aresupplied with devicemounting modules. Theyare fixed at the two rightcabinet profiles.

VOLTAGE TAP KITTwo kits for 100A and 630Aare available. The 100A ver-sion can only be mountedwith device mounting mod-ules, while the 630A ver-sion is also available formounting plates.
