Calculate the area in sq. area in sq. meters enclosed between the chain line, the curved boundary line and the end offsets by applying (i) Trapezoidal Rule and (ii) Simpson Rule. Find out the interior angles of traverse. Q:3 : What do you know about plane Table surveying ? What do you recommend it . Discuss the advantages of plane tabling over other methods of surveying. (B) A surveyor was asked to take levels for constructing a road and the following staff reading were recorded with level , 5m leveling staff and 30m measuring tape 1.26,2.80,1.62,1.11,1.20,1.49,1.58,2.70,1.57,1.72,1.80,1.10,1.58,1.02,1.35,1.87 and 1.52 . The first staff reading was taken on BM of known elevation 50 m . Rule out a page of level book enter the above reading and calculate the reduced levels of all the station by using any one method , also apply the usual check . The instrument was shifted after 7 th and 12 th Readings. Q:5 : (A) Write the Back bearing of the following bearing. Q:1 (a) Define Offsets .

Q:2. (A) What do you know about Ranging. Describe briefly the different kinds of Ranging.

(B) A Base Line LN was measure in two parts . LM and MN of respective Length 729.50 ft and 544.0.ft with

steel tape which was exactly 100 ft @ 25oc and @ a pull of 100 N . The temperature during the measurement were

35oC where as applied pull during measurement was 120N and 130N respectively. Find the correct length of the

base line if the x-sectional area of the tape was 0.49 sq. in the co-efficient of expansion and the modulus of

elasticity of the tape were 0.0000035 per 1oc and 21 x 10

3 N/sq.in respectively.

(B) A surveyor was asked to take the levels on a piece of ground for constructing a road. The following staff

readings were recorded with a level, 5m leveling staff at a common interval of 30m.

1.230, 2.820, 0.950 ,1.490 , 2.520, 1.850, 2.720, 2.550, 1.820, 2.900, 2.150, 1.750, 3.300, 2.350, 1.250, 1.900, 1.540

and 1.900, 1.540, 1.800. The instrument was shifted after 6th

readings respectively. The first staff reading was

taken on BM of known elevation 50m. Rule out a page of level book , enter the above readings and calculate the

reduced levels of all the points by using any one method , also apply the usual checks.
