Filipinos who are presently at home on vacationduring the reference period but still has an

existing contract to work abroad. They may be:

Data processing using Census and SurveyProcessing System (CSPro)


CSPro is a menu driven software use for entering, editing,tabulating and disseminating data for censuses and surveys

Major problems in producing the data items

Survey Operations ConstraintsInformation about overseas Filipinos areobtained directly from them if present in

the household.BUT if the overseas Filipino is away,information are obtained from their

relatives, or any member of the householdwho knows the person who left for abroad

Survey LimitationsThe OFW included are those whosefamilies still reside in the country as

of time of survey visit.The OFWs covered in this report werethose working abroad during the

period April 1 to September 30 of thereference year.

Survey LimitationsThe workers who were at home onvacation from their jobs abroad who

have left earlier than April 1 of thereference year are also included aslong as they worked full time abroad.

Respondents KnowledgeThe SOF does not ask for the

total salary received by theOFWs. Hence, the remittancespresented in the report may justbe a part of the total salaryreceived by the OFWs.

Inappropriate sampling frameThe SOF sample households are

the same as that for the LaborForce Survey (LFS).

Weight Adjustment ProcedureThe current procedures does not

take into account any abnormalincrease in the number of OFWs.

Comparability with other data onOFWs produced by NSO from thecensus as well as POEA

The census uses a 5-yearreference period while the SOFutilized a 6-month period, that is,
