for kids aged 3.5 and up This course is perfect for children who are not reading fluently yet, yet are keen on learning new vocabulary in a fun way! The course will follow the Cambridge Starters curriculum. Your child will learn new vocab and grammar which includes: Vocabu lary: colors, numbers, greetings, clothes, body parts, family members, transport, animal, school objects, sports/hobbies, food and drinks, rooms and furniture. Grammar: what’s this/that, have got, who’s this? can/can’t, like/don’t like, verbs, adjectives, there is, there are.

for kids K2 and up

This course is a good overview or refresher for children who are entering Primary School. If your child has never learnt phonics, a regular course is advisable. However, if she has learnt phonics and need to brush up her skills, this is the answer to achieve higher dictation scores, and more accurate reading and speaking!

The teacher will work on the children’s individual strengths and weaknesses. The 42 basic sounds of English will be covered. Emphasis will be given on reading words, and then a series of decodable books and spelling.

for kids K2 and up Finally! A course in speaking! So many of you have been asking for this! These courses can be used as preparation for the Trinity College London GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English). The workshops will introduce topics that are appropriate for children’s needs and follow the 2010-2013 curriculum. Talk ing Trin ity Grade 1 Workshop includes the following topics: personal information , immediate surroundings including classroom objects, basic parts of the face and body , common animals (domestic, farm and wild) , cardinal numbers up to 20 , colors and everyday items of clothing Talk ing Tr in ity Grade 2 Workshop includes the following topics: rooms in the home, household objects, family and friends, pets, possessions, days of the week and months of the year, cardinal numbers up to 50. Besides learning vocabulary, the children are expected to learn grammar and language skills such as describing things and asking questions.

 

 

with International Phonics Trainer Bev Saceand Early Childhood Educator Cherie Lo for kids aged 4 and up This summer we become more creative with our use of synthetic phonics. Let your artistic side come out as we combine art into our Jolly Phonics to present to you a puppet theater where students read out the story, and then exhibit their art. This summer’s main workshop will introduce and/or reinforce the very important long and short vowels sounds. This fun 5-day workshop will introduce sounds to your child in a multi-sensory way and will boost her confidence. An exhibit will follow at the Sunflowers’ hallway. This workshop is co-presented with Miss Cherie Lo. She is an early childhood educator at an international kindergarten in Kowloon. She prepares the school’s artwork each year, ranging from simple student crafts to whole installations on the school walls. She has worked with Miss Bev for over 3 years!

Is your child entering Primary School? This 2-week workshop aims to introduce basic Grammar essentials to your child, equipping him with the knowledge needed for Primary 1 and 2 Grammar. Jolly Grammar 1 topics include: the alphabet, capitalization, proper nouns, common nouns, plurals, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, compound words, adverbs, speech marks, parsing, subject-verb agreement, simple present, past and future tenses. Jo lly Grammar 2 topics include: commas, exclamation marks, regular/irregular past tense, conjugating verbs, parsing, conjunctions, plurals – ies/s, apostrophe ‘s’, prepositions, comparatives and superlatives, prefixes and suffixes Learning Grammar the Sunflowers and Jolly Learning way is fun!
