On March 4 the Hardin Simmons University Concert Band was traveling through Brown-wood. Their plan was to stop here for dinner on their return to Abilene that evening. Weather intervened! It was the kind of weather we seem to have had a lot of this year; the kind of weather it doesn't take too much of to be called too much. Things were frozen, travel was unsafe, and there was a baseball tournament in town and nowhere near enough hotel rooms available for a stranded concert Band. Rob Tucker called me on the phone, not knowing that our own Colton Rocket had called Joe Franklin, or that the HSU band director had called the HPU director of bands Mr. Corey Ash. All said First Baptist could handle it. And we did. In about 45 minutes time the Brick was transformed into an overnight home for stranded band members. The slept in warmth on air mattresses that were originally bought for our Champs Camp volunteers. I got a nice note from Dr. Tucker. Here is a quote from his letter, "Your generosity reminded me of what Christianity means and how much First Baptist Church of Brownwood embodies and practices the teachings of the Gospel." I agree with Dr. Tucker. You are a great church. Hey church, what are you hungry for? Spiritual renewal and personal transformation I hope! Here is the good news about that. Jesus said, "Blessed are the those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled" (Matthew 5:6, NRSV). So I ask again. What are you hungry for? If it is righteousness, you are in for a real blessing. Next week is Holy Week. Special opportunities include a visit-ation outreach on Tuesday evening to all our Champs Camp families, inviting them to Easter services. We will meet in the Brick at 6:30 for instructions. Thursday evening will be our maundy Thursday service and special observance of Lord's Supper. Friday is our service of Tenebrae. The special week-night services begin at 6:30PM. On Sunday we will join togeth-er to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord in a spectacular way. I am glad to be Your pastor
