long time ago, there was an old man named Kyai Gede Penanggungan,
he had 2 daughters named Nyai Roro Walang Angin and Nyai Roro
Walang Sangit and also a widow sister named Nyai Njingan and he had
a son named Jaka Walang Tilungu. One day Jaka Walang Tilungu found
a really big fish and he surprised that the fish could talk to him,
the fish told him that he was a human being but being cursed as a
fish, so Jaka Walang Tilungu prayed to God and the fish turned into
a human being again. Jaka Walang Tilungu called him Jaka
Pandelegan. As his Gratitude to Jaka Walang Tilungu, Jaka
Pandelegan helped him to deforest Kedungras forest and turn it into
a rice field.The rice field produced so much rice they couldnt
harvest it by themselves, so they asked Kyai Gede Penanggungans
daughters to help them, longshort story they fall in love and got
married.
3At the same time, Majapahit Kingdom had a crop failed so they
asked Jaka Walang Tilungu to give them some rice, he also invited
to the palace to meet the King of Majapahit, Hayamwuruk. Long short
story, Hayam wuruk found out that Jaka Walang Tilungu is his son
and he asked him to move to the palace, Jaka Walang Tilungu willing
to accept it unless Jaka Pandelegan and his wife can live at the
palace too.Finally, the warrior from Majapahit picked up Jaka
Pandelegan and his wife, Nyiai Roro Walang Angin. Before they go to
the kingdom, Jaka Padelegan went to the granary and his wife went
to a well to take some water, but suddenly they gone. After that
Hayam Wuruk ordered to build two temple at the places they were
gone, one at the granary and the other at the well.The temple at
the granary named Pari Temple and the temple at the well named
Sumur Temple
4ARCHITECTURESumur temple is made of bricks, laid out on a
square with dimensions of 8 x 8 meters and a height of 10 meters.
Although it was near from Pari Temple, the architecture was totally
different. Vertically, the temple is composed of feet,the body, and
also the roof although it isnt in a whole condition because of
fungi. In the body there is a room where there should be statues of
Lingga Yoni da. The establishment of this temple is predicted in
the 14th century, almost the same as Candi Pari if we look from the
character of the building and bricks were used.
5Although it isnt in a whole condition, this temple still can be
enjoyed and learned by the visitors. The restoration of this temple
which held by the Department of Antiquities can fix the 70% of the
foot , 40% of the body, and 40% of the roof. Currently we can see
two sides of the walls and roof of the east and south.In the
temple, there is a rectangular hole with a depth of 2 meters.
Because its shape is look like a well, the people called it as
Sumur Temple.
6 MythsSome people believe that if youre a woman and willing to
have a baby or havent got married yet, you can pray at the Sumur
Temple so you can get pregnant or get marry soon. Some people also
throw coins into the well so their wishes will be come true. Theres
also a myth that the well at the Sumur Temple is connected to the
South Ocean. A long time ago, sometimes you could see the fighting
snakes in front of the temple.
7VISITORSEvery holiday, Pari Temple and Sumur Temple always have
the visitors although the intensity is quite small.actually most of
