June 18,2010Dear Families of Soon-to-be-Fifth-Graders of Room 309,

We’ve made it through one year together! Can you believe it? It has been a pleasure to learn from your children this year. Enclosed, you will find his/her narrative and MAP scores from this year.

Over the course of the summer there are a few things I need you to do in order to make sure your child keeps the concepts we’ve worked through this school year.

1. Read through your child’s narrative with him/her and talk with him/her about the comments.

2. Have your child read all of the Summer Reading Club books daily (even on vacations—my daughter reads in the car and on plane rides).

3. Talk daily with your child about the books s/he reads.

4. Make sure your child writes to me at least 3 times using the class wiki: http://mrstiggs.pbworks.com .

to get ideas for what to write about.b. They need to login to their student page and click the link that says “____’s

c. S/he needs to type a letter to me and wait for me to respond.

5. Go over the problems in the Skills Link book for math with your child.
