FROM THE DIRECTORS

When we were in the planning phases of co-locating our two departments at 75 Maple Street, we had a lot to sort out — infrastructure, daily operations, staffing, budgeting, programming, brochures, communications, etc. A few times we started talking about the summer camp and swim brochure only to quickly put the breaks on. We knew the fall and winter brochures had challenges, but nothing like the summer one. Two pools, two sets of swim lessons, different camp structures, similar camp offerings, a variety of refund and cancelation policies, and on and on. We simply avoided the conversation and said we’ll deal with it later. Well, later has arrived and so is the summer camp and swim brochure to your home.

This combined brochure is 16 pages less than our two brochures combined last year of the same content, with an equivalent number of offerings. For the most part, users will be blind to which department has the lead on each program. We got here because we had to. We had to put our thinking caps on, compromise, ask hard questions, think differently, and be open to new ideas. It wasn’t (and isn’t) easy. But, this product is proof it can be done. We hope you enjoy our first shot at this. We know we have a lot more to accomplish, but we are pleased with this start.

Yours Truly in Recreation,

Ally Vile and Brad Luck Recreation Directors
