Submission Instructions Journal of The Electrochemical Society ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology About the journals The Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES) is the flagship journal of The Electrochemical Society (ECS). Published continuously from 1902 to the present, JES remains one of the most highly cited journals in electrochemical science and technology. ECS began publication of the ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology (JSS) in 2012. JSS covers fundamental and applied areas of solid state science and technology including experimental and theoretical aspects of the chemistry and physics of materials and devices. In addition to regular issues in each volume of JES and JSS, ECS publishes several themed or focus issues each year to highlight scientific and technological areas of current interest and future promise that are rapidly expanding or taking a new direction. Prepare your manuscript Although it is not a requirement to use a template, ECS does provide templates for the different types of articles that may be submitted to its journals. They include research articles, communication articles, perspective articles, and review articles. Authors should visit the submission site to access the templates and for detailed instructions. Submit your paper All submissions to the journals must be made through the online system. New authors must register for an account if they have never used this system. As part of the submission process authors will be required to choose the journal and topical interest area to which they are submitting. ECS requires the corresponding author to have an ORCID iD. Authors may choose to publish their manuscripts as open access (an article processing charge may be applied). Authors may upload supplemental material to aid reviewers or for publication (fee is applied if accepted for publication). Revise and resubmit Once a paper has been peer reviewed and an initial decision has been made, the author may be asked to revise the manuscript based on the reveiwer comments. The submission process for revised manuscripts is similar to the initial submission process with the added requirement of including a separate list of changes and/or rebuttal comments reflecting each of the issues raised by the reviewers. Approve your proofs After a paper has been reviewed and accepted, it is sent to the production team for typesetting. Within days of acceptance, an email is sent to the corresponding author that includes a link to the proof copy and instructions for returning the proof. Authors are given two business days to review the proof and respond with any corrections or changes before the paper is finalized for publication. Get published ECS journals follow an article-based publication model instead of an issue-based model. As soon as possible after acceptance, an article is published online into an “issue in progress.” The publication of the article is not embargoed; there is no delay or wait for an entire issue to be complete. Immediately upon publication the article is fully citable with volume, issue, and final page numbers that are not subject to change later. The average lag time from acceptance to publication in an ECS journal is 10 days. The ECS journals are abstracted and/or indexed in: Google/Google Scholar, Web of Science, Scopus, Chemical Abstracts, Engineering Index, ChemPort, INSPEC, ProQuest, Science Citation Index, and others. www.electrochem.org/whypublish [email protected]
