T Green, the rider of King Solomon, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137a), in that passing the 1300m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Big Call, which had to be checked. T Green’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence 6/1/18 and expire 16/1/18, on which day he may resume. Big Call then over raced during the middle stages. Red Notice raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. High Flight slow to begin, then raced fiercely passing the 900m. Bliss Point slow to begin. Race 2: Maiden Handicap 900m Shire Flyer took charge of its rider during the parade and bolted to the start, then threw itself down behind the barriers. Was withdrawn at 2.33pm. Trainer Mr. S Farley was advised that prior to racing again Shire Flyer would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.

Race 1: Maiden Handicap 1400m Big Call – began awkwardly. T Green, the rider of King Solomon, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137a), in that passing the 1300m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Big Call, which had to be checked. Try A Lil Harder – became fractious in the barriers and subsequently failed a veterinary examination and was withdrawn at 2.39pm. Trainer Mr. R Northam was advised that a warning for being fractious in the barrier would be placed on the racing record of Try A Lil Harder. Never Tardy – was hampered and carried wider passing the 200m. Sunsilk Girl – initially refused to parade to the start, then refused to enter the barriers and was withdrawn at 2.39pm. Stable Representative Mr. S Perry was advised that Sunsilk Girl would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on Shire Flyer, Try A Lil Harder and Sunsilk Girl be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers placed prior to 2.33pm be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1st Undercarriage – 40 cents Win & 35 cents Place 2nd Second Island – 27 cents Place 3rd Cheers Joyce – 40 cents Place Further, it was ordered that all successful wagers placed between 2.33pm and 2.39pm, be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1st Undercarriage – 39 cents Win & 32 cents Place 2nd Second Island – 22 cents Place 3rd Cheers Joyce – 38 cents Place Stable Representative Mr. S Perry was advised that Sunsilk Girl would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Love For Willow – missed the start (3L). Sasogenes – had to be steadied when crowded passing the 600m. Race 3: Class 1 & Maiden Plate 2200m Trainer Mr. R Freedman was reminded of his obligation to notify a change of tactics for his runners by the prescribed time. Nightspun – had to be checked when crowded whilst negotiating the crossing near the 1800m, then raced fiercely for a short distance. Blue Genesis – had to be checked passing the winning post on the first occasion when racing fiercely in restricted room on the inside of Hailstorm

(R Murray), which shifted in when not quite clear. R Murray was reprimanded (AR137a). Clover Club – leapt the crossing passing the 1800m and became very unbalanced, then had to be steadied when racing in restricted room rounding the home turn. Race 4: Class 2 Handicap 900m Prior to the starter releasing the field the gates sprang open when Miss Fisher lunged forward in its stall. The starter notified a false start and all runners were quickly restrained and returned to the start where they were passed fit by the club’s veterinary officer. Biscuit Time – hung in under pressure inside the 200m. Sausalito – began awkwardly. Susie’s Gold – trainer Mr. J Waters was advised that a warning for poor performance would be placed on the mare’s racing record. Race 5: Benchmark 54 Handicap 1600m Trainer Mr. J Waters was reprimanded (AR137A (7) (a)) for issuing instruction to L McPherson which considering her relative inexperience as a race rider, could have led to her breach of the whip regulations in this race. Athena’s Voice – slow to begin. Tiger’s Story – began awkwardly. Subway Surfer – slow to begin. Race 6: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1100m The Lion – crowded at the entrance to the home straight. Something Shocking – began awkwardly and lost ground (2L). Danshari – raced ungenerously when placed under pressure passing the 300m. All Aflutter – the rider S Lisnyy was interviewed regarding the manner in which he rode his mount during the concluding stages. Bearing in mind the long head official margin between his mount and Jackknife (placed 3rd), he

was reprimanded (AR137b) and advised that had the margin been less, he may have been liable to further penalty and to ensure that he rides his mounts in at least hands and heels fashion to the end of every race wherever possible. Further S Lisnyy was reprimanded (AR175g) for giving misleading evidence during this interview. Race 7: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1300m Jexerlent – over raced for some distance near the 900m, then raced in

restricted room at the entrance to the home straight.

Celtic Love – was restrained out of the race passing the 400m. The rider K Latham explained that after beginning awkwardly his mount failed to travel and when placed under pressure passing the 700m it failed to respond and began to weaken. He said that approaching the home turn the mare felt very awkward in its action and raced with its head increasingly lower and he thought that something was amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer Mr. M Connors said that the mare had worked well leading into the race and had been in good recent form. Mr. Connors was advised that prior to racing again Celtic Love would be required to perform satisfactorily under full race day pressure in an official barrier trial, then be inspected and passed by the attending veterinary officer immediately thereafter.

Prospectors Helmet – raced in restricted room inside the 200m and was

hampered and had to be shifted out to continue to go forward inside the 150m.

Summary of whip use

Race 1: T Green – King Solomon 6 strikes prior to the 100m.

Race 6: R Dolan – Athena’s Voice 6 strikes prior to the 100m.

Bearing in mind the totality of use, no action was taken.

Race 6: L McPherson – Tiger’s Story

10 strikes prior to the 100m. Fined $100 considering race riding experience

General: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following

runners: Our Winnie, Shire Flyer & Love For Willow.
