Our aim is to keep the application process simple so you can concentrate on what’s important–doing well in your senior year. We’ll evaluate your application for admission based on your overall academic record, including the

rigor of your high school courses, your overall grade pattern, and your standardized test scores. Plus, we want to know more about you as a person and your level of motivation. That’s why we ask for a list of your activities, a short essay,

1 day, 1,400 handsThe beginning of every semester is marked with a day-long, University-wide service event called Continuing the Heritage, when you gather with more than 700 other students, faculty, alumni and staff to collectively offer over 3,500 hours of volunteer service in the local area.

Our community, our homeBeing neighborly sometimes means doing manual labor like creating pocket parks, or preparing local residents’ taxes for free on Saturdays during tax season. In 2010, St. Mary’s Neighborhood Revitalization Project, in conjunction with the Office of District 7 Councilman Justin Rodriguez, announced the St. Mary’s Gateway District, giving the community an official name.

Inclusively faith-basedWhile 65 percent of our students are Catholic, our University Ministry pastoral team promotes spiritual development and growth in community among students of all faiths. In addition to daily Mass and two Masses on Sunday, University Ministry offers prayer gatherings, student retreats, ministry opportunities, and faith and justice activities.

Serving as a role modelMany St.$Mary’s students tutor seventh graders in the San Antonio Students Stand and Deliver program, working on the skills that will eventually help them excel on the SAT college entrance exam.

Community at St.$Mary’s begins in the residence halls, where nearly 80 percent of our !rst-year students live as part of a big family. Before classes even start, you’ll go to Rattlerpalooza, an annual event that gets you acquainted with your fellow students and all of the ways you can pack your days and nights with activities that let you pursue new interests and have lots of fun.

One BIG party!Started as an alumni tradition in 1916, Fiesta Oyster Bake now attracts more than 70,000 people to our campus. It features 30 bands on !ve stages, a carnival area, a !reworks show, 6,000 turkey legs, 7,500 ears of corn, 25,000 chickens-on-a-stick and 100,000+ oysters. %e proceeds support a $6 million scholarship endowment fund that bene!ts around 70 St.$Mary’s students per year.

%e ultimate in stress relief Intramural sports, wellness programs, sport clubs, and informal open recreation activities let you rest your mind and exercise your body instead.
