DIATHONITE CORK RENDER

Cork based coloured thermal finish, eco-friendly, breathable and waterproof

Coloured finish made of cork, water based resins and diatomaceous e arth, with high thermal insulating properties, water repellent and breathable. Eco-fri endly product, highly elastic, to decorate external facades, thermal plasters and external insulation ( such as Diathonite Evolution), both for inside and outside application. It impedes the water absorptio n by the masonry and it prolonges the durability of the plaster.

STORAGE Store the product in well ventilated areas, away from sunlight, water and ice, at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C (+41°F and +95°F). Storage time: 12 months.

PREPARATION OF SUPPORT • The support must be perfectly hardened, dry, and

resistant enough. • Apply to well cured and dry surfaces. • The surface must be thoroughly clean, well

consolidated, without debris or detaching parts and perfectly leveled.

• Eventual loose parts must be restored before product application.

• Support temperature must be comprised between +5°C and +35°C (+41°F and +95°F).

• Diathonite Cork Render adheres to various kind of surface: non gypsum one plaster (such as Diathonite Evolution), glass, aluminum, PVC, wood. Anyway it is recommended to do an adhesion test and in case use an adhesion primer (such as D20).

• Over reinforced concrete or particularly smooth surface, apply an adhesion primer (such as Aquabond).

APPLICATION FIELDS The product is suitable to: • Decorate facades and internal and external walls; • Finish thermal-acoustic insulation (such as Diathonite Evolution); • Coat old paint and mineral dry, compact and resistant coatings; • Restore cracked walls; • It can be applied to old and new plaster. YIELD 0,90 – 1,20 kg/m2 – about 2 mm of thickness. 0,56 l/m2 – about 1 mm of thickness. One gallon covers up to 72 sq ft.

* 1680 hpurs of weathering test is equal to about 10 years. This equivalence is merely indicative and it may vary depending on weather conditions. The above data, even if carried out according to regulated tests are indicative and they may be change when specific site conditions vary.

MIXING 1. Open the bucket and the bag which contains the product and pour bag content into the bucket. If necessary add water into the bag to facilitate the pour of product. 2. Add the whole package of colour into the bucket. 3. Mix the compound with a helical bit mixer at high speed for at least 2 or 3 minutes until obtaining a homogeneous mix, without lumps and with a uniform colour. 4. For hand application, if necessary dilute Diathonite Cork Render with at max 5% of water [(1,0 lt of water per 18 kg), max 5% of water (0,26 gal U.S.of water per 39,7 lb)]. 5. For application by hopper gun, dilute:

− Coloured product: 5% - 10% of water [(1,0 –2,0 lt every 18 kg) (0,26 – 0,52 gal U.S. every 39,7 lb)]; − Neutral product: 10% - 15% of water [(2,0 –3,0 lt every 18 kg) (0,52 – 0,79 gal U.S every 39,7 lb)].

6. Mix again the compound. The amount of water specified is indicative and it may considerably vary depending on weather conditions. Do not add anything to the mixture.

APPLICATION Application by hand 1. If necessary, wait until paint primer D20 or adhesion primer Aquabond is completely dry. 2. Apply a first abundant layer of Diathonite Cork Render by trowel. The first coat can be used as rough coat to uniform the surface. In case of rain to a non perfectly dry surface, carefully verify the suitability of the next covering. 3. Apply a second thin coat of product to finish the surface. 4. Smooth as soon after the application. 5. Application time: 80/110 m2 (861/1184 ft2) a day. Application by hopper gun 1. If necessary, wait until paint primer D20 or adhesion primer Aquabond is completely dry. 2. Hopper gun must have:

a. Minimum pressure 5 atm (73,5 psi); b. Diameter nozzle 8,0 mm (0,32 in).

3. Apply a first coat of Diathonite Cork Render by hopper gun to cover the entire surface. In case of rain to a non perfectly dry surface, carefully verify the suitability of the next covering.

4. Apply a second coat of Diathonite Cork Render to completely cover the surface. For a better result and for a more homogeneous finish, it is adviced to apply the two coats in two different directions. 5. Do not smooth. 6. Application time: 200/250 m2 (2153/2691 ft2) a day. Diathonite Cork Render can be applied with a FastFlow pump. Application time varies between 70 to 800 m2 (753 to 8611 ft2) a day. DRYING TIME At 20°C (68°F) and with relative humidity level of 40%, the product dries completely in 10 hours. • Drying time is influenced by relative humidity level

and by temperature and may change significantly. • Protect Diathonite Cork Render while curing from

rain, ice, direct sunlight and wind for about 2 hours at 20°C (68°F).

SUGGESTIONS • Do not apply at temperatures lower than +5°C or

higher than +30°C (+41°F or higher than +86°F). • During summer season apply in the cooler hours of

the day. • Do not apply with imminent threat of rainwater or ice,

with strong fog or relative humidity level higher than 70%.

• Apply to completely dry surfaces. • Store the product in its original container. CLEANING Wash tools with water. SAFETY For the handling, see product safety data sheet.
