Publicity Secretary Assadullah Wani Passing out parade held Sheltering militants cause of concern: CRPF Srinagar, Jan 16: Inspector General of Police CRPF, K S Bandari Friday said it was cause of concern that main- stream people were provid- ing shelter to militants. “It is a cause of concern when a Sarpanch or any gov- ernment official provides shelter to a militant,” Ban- dari said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a passing out function at Hum- hama in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. The IG CRPF endorsed the Army’s claim that around 170 militants are waiting to infiltrate. He said forces are ready to meet any eventual- ity. Earlier, oath of alle- giance was administered to 260 constables. Bhandari took the salute and reviewed the parade as chief guest witnessed by distinguished guests, CRPF personnel and their families. Nayeem Khan under house detention Srinagar, Jan 16: Police on Friday afternoon placed Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) leader and National Front (NF) chair- man Nayeem Ahmad Khan under house detention, NF spokesman today said. “Police today placed Nayeem Khan under house detention and barred him from offering Friday prayers,” the NF spokesman said in a statement, adding that “A large contingent of police came and without giving any reasons cordoned off the residence of Nayeem Khan asking him not to come out.” He termed the detention as ‘an undemocratic act.’ Meanwhile, the spokes- man, while paying rich trib- utes to the five youth who were slain at Keller in Pul- wama district yesterday, said, “The martyrs are daring and challenging a very strong mili- tary power only for the cause of freedom. We express our solidarity with the families of these slain youth and reaffirm pledge to take mission of mar- tyrs to its logical end.” Manhandling of ADC Anantnag KAS Association seeks action Srinagar, Jan 16: Kashmir Administrative Service Offi- cers Association has demand- ed registration of an FIR against sitting MLC, Bashir Ahmed Veeri for alleged manhandling of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anant- nag, Shabir Hussain Bhat. In a statement, the Associ- ation strongly condemned the incident and urged the dis- trict administration Anant- nag to take cognizance of the incident and ensure that the FIR is lodged regarding the incident without any delay. The Association also urged higher-ups of the government to prevent occurrence of such incidents in future.
