Squiggle your way to a comic!
Start with a plain piece of paper. Separate it into 6 boxes.
Children to draw a squiggle in the first box.
Children to add some features to the squiggle to create a main character.
The character should show an emotion – happy, sad, scared, worried, angry.
They should then ask a question, what has made the character feel this way? Then they draw another squiggle in the next box.
They then add detail to their drawing and write a little explanation in the box to tell us what has happened to their character to make them feel the way they do.
They then squiggle again...
And add detail to show us what is happening to resolve the problem.
They write a quick sentence to explain their squiggle.
On a new piece of paper, or using the opposite side, the children squiggle again! And they add the detail – notice the smile – to show the happy ending.
They write a quick sentence to tell us the new emotion!
The children can colour the squiggle picture in to finish for the day!
