WAYS TO BOOK

How to Pay:We accept cash, cheque, debit or creditcards. Tickets booked over the phone can be posted toyou for £1. Online bookings will be held at the Box Officefor collection.

Reserving Tickets: Please collect unpaid tickets at least 30mins before the performance, as reserved tickets may bereleased for resale after that point.

Exchanging Tickets: Unfortunately once tickets have beenpurchased we are unable to refund them. Tickets can beexchanged for other tickets of equivalent value for £1 pertransaction (free to Members) if presented to the BoxOffice at least 24 hours before the performance. No ticketswill be refunded on the announcements of subsequentspecial offers. For some performances all levels of theauditorium may not be open.

Concessions and Discounts:must be requested at thetime of booking. When available these apply to under 25s,full-time students, over 60s, registered disabled or thosein receipt of means tested benefits. Please produce proofof eligibility each time a booking is made.

Groups: of 10+ are entitles to a discount of £2 off perticket. This excludes matinee performances.

Schools: 1 teacher ticket free with every 10 pupils over 8years old and 1 teacher ticket free with every 5 pupils 8years and under (excludes panto)

Access:We are committed to making our performancesas accessible as possible. We have wheelchair spacesavailable in the stalls in the Main House and in the Studio.Please state at the time of booking if a wheelchair space isrequired. There are accessible toilet facilities. We have awireless system for audio-described performances and thehard of hearing and also programme signed andcaptioned performances. Companion tickets are available.Access dogs are admitted.

Latecomers: Latecomers may be asked to wait until asuitable break in the performance before taking theirseats. On some occasions it may be impossible to admitlatecomers until the interval. Please note for Studioperformances without an interval, latecomers will not beadmitted at any stage due the layout of the performancearea.

Cream Tea Matinees: £14 (includes ticket, programmeand cream tea)

If you are under 26 sign up for theFree Theatre Pass at York TheatreRoyal and receive free theatretickets until March 2011.

You can download a form from thelearning section of our websitewww.yorktheatreroyal.co.uk andwe will put the allocation of freetickets per show on the website.

A Night Less Ordinary is an ArtsCouncil England scheme,supported by the Department forCulture, Media and Sport, to get more youngpeople into theatres across the country. The £2.5million scheme provides 618,000 free theatretickets to anyone under 26 in more than 200venues across England, between February 2009and March 2011. As part of the free theatre initiative in Autumn 2009York Theatre Royal held the first TakeOver Festival.Young people from across Yorkshire were given theopportunity to programme three weeks of theatreevents and in a mix of individual placements andworking as a board ran the theatre for the durationof the festival with guidance and support from theYork Theatre Royal team. The festival was a hugesuccess, we welcomed over 9000 people throughthe doors to see a show or participate in aworkshop or event during the three week period.

We will be running a TakeOver10 Festival and we’relooking for a team of enthusiastic under 26 year oldvolunteers to get involved. If you’re interested inbeing involved please [email protected]
