I don’t want anyone to be confused over what are my products that I have developed over twenty-plus years now and the outright and shameless copies that the man who I call “The Dirtbag” (who doesn’t even own a big game lever drag reel, let alone know the first damned thing about big game fishing) is puking up and calling his own. This man entered my life and deceived me into trusting him. I’m sure that as soon as he saw how sick and helpless and physically defenseless I truly am, he began to plan what happened as soon as he had gleaned everything that he could from me.

It all started with a good-hearted gesture to try to help him when I found out that this guy, a new customer who was no kid, had lost his job months before and hadn’t found another one. I had pity on him and started off by offering to share a full, 1/3 of the gross profits from a new book that another real writer and I were putting together. In that case, both this young writer and I were willing to take money from out own pockets to help someone who we barely knew who was down on their luck. The short version of the story is that the guy eventually made a pitch to buy my business,

I offered it to him under ridiculously easy terms (that he worked for free while he was learning to run the business efficiently, something that I thought would take him a matter of weeks, but that took him almost two months and he never achieved). Included in those terms was giving him the entire business after I passed away at zero cost to him other than a small percentage (10%) of the annual gross for my grandchildren and support for my dogs until they too passed on. The bottom line is the guy reneged on his word and all of the promises that he made, bailed out when it was obvious to me at least, he figured that he had learned everything that he needed to learn in order to copy everything that it took me over fifteen years of hard work to develop and then to start competing with me. There is more, a lot more, all showing what a creep this person is, but I am not going to go into those things here.

I just hope that you don’t choose to do business with a slimy Dirtbag like this guy and that you don’t confuse his “work” with mine and will leave it at that. Just remember, a fifty year old loser is a loser, no matter how he tries to paint himself differently. Don’t be taken in by one.

Gamefish of all kinds, but especially all members of the tuna family, spend a great deal of time feeding on small-to-tiny bait – far more than most fishermen realize because they are trolling lures that are too big. The reason big fish crave little bait is simple and natural and is in fact, the same one that explains why the biggest of the whales eat nothing but - small fin and other forms of tiny bait have a much higher protein-to-body weight ratio than larger fin bait and of course they are the most abundant form of protein of all. The latter have much higher fat-to-body weight ratios and fat is not a desirable building or energy block for fish. So, when the fish have a choice, they instinctively choose the small, protein-rich fodder over the bigger stuff, which in most cases is also feeding on the tiny bait too, and for the same reason. If the fish are on little bait, as tuna and other pelagics so often are, a spread of just six 4 ¼” Meatball bars can put an incredible one hundred twenty “baits” in your pattern! The pods of big baits on MONSTERBARS , or better yet a pod of smaller squids being chased by one big monster is far more and exciting to big fish than “big” single lures. Plus, you can put four or six big squids in your pattern, instead of just one or maybe two. 5. If you want to change the size or color of a “big” marlin lure you have to either replace it with a new one, or you have to re-skirt the one that you are fishing with – not so with a MONSTERBAR. 6. If you want to change size or color on a MONSTERBAR, all you have to do is snap one chasebait off and snap another one on. Think about that for a bit! And start adding up the cost factor on marlin lures compared to just one bar with multiple chasebaits. There is a huge difference in versatility, performance and cost!

THE BEST BIG BAR ON THE WATER

A big bait chasing a pod of the same size baits that big squid or fin bait normally feed on is more effective than just a pack of big squids.

This Custom Big Tuna & Big MarlinBar with a fifteen to twenty inch Jumbo Squid chasing a pod of little, four inch teasers is the result. It is only five feet long overall and only eight inches wide. DAISYBARS are the result of marrying two of the hottest lures on the water, daisy chains and spreaderbars. The result is a completely new “crossbreed” lure with the best of both of its parents shining through and turning fish on. Far shorter and wider than its daisy chain “dad”, but far narrower than the standard spreaderbar, the DAISYBAR turns the typical long, skinny, unnatural line of teasers in a daisy chain into a short, fat, natural looking and far bigger target for raising and catching fish represented by its “momma”, the spreaderbar. Here is a nine inch (determined by teaser size) SPIDER in a bait configuration. This is a deep tuna, wahoo and marlin slayer of the first order! But unlike any old fashioned metal dredge, THIS ONE IS ALSO A SUPER SURFACE BAR!

THAT QUESTION ONE MORE TIME, IF I MAY...DO YOU HAVE A METAL DREDGE THAT WILL DO ALL OF THIS? YOU DON’T? GOODGOSHAMIGHTY!

UNTIL NOW, MOST DREDGES HAVE BEEN USED AS TEASERS ONLY. NOW CATCH FISH ON THEM! Again like spreaderbars, early dredges and, unlike bars, many of today’s dredges are rigged with natural baits, a costly, time-consuming, hard-to-make rig with a short lifespan that attracts fish – but no better than one rigged with lifelike hollow squids, and we think that overall, not as well as the squids. Bait is fragile and easily damaged or destroyed, especially when attacked by school, not billfish. Plus, big “meat” dredges are a hassle in the cockpit, especially in rough conditions and they tow like trucks, ideally requiring electric reels or other powerful mechanical devices to retrieve them, plus they are very expensive. This has restricted their use to mostly big boats and wealthy anglers. Finally, as far as we know, regular dredges have been designed to represent big schools of big baits, leaving the entire, critical small and medium sized bait and bait pods part of matching the hatch equation empty. This may not matter to the marlin hounds, but it should, of course, because like spreaderbars, SPIDERS are simply awesome marlin catchers, but it certainly should to you if you fish for the school species, like tunas, dorado and wahoo – fish that often get locked in on small-to-tiny baits. Toss in smaller inshore and bottom species (bottom species? Dredges? Oh, yeah! Check out the pictures that are coming up) too and you should wind up seeing what we and so many of our customers have discovered...that there was a lot of room for a new, smaller, lighter, easier handling and trolling, less expensive dredge design...thus, the SPIDERS.

PLASTIC SQUIDS ARE BETTER THAN MEAT IN MANY WAYS Forget the meat (and huge numbers of squids too) on dredges and replace them with smaller, lighter, more natural pods of hollow squids in various sizes and colors and you have eliminated many of the shortcomings of traditional dredges. You can still fish natural baits as chasebaits if you must have meat, of course. But why, when... 1. You can skip the time and expense of rigging a bunch of natural baits. 2. Skip the freezers, coolers, curing and costly (now even more incredibly expensive) bait shipments too. Hollow squid bars are

always ready to rock and are inexpensive to ship and you only do that once. 3. Hollow squids are a lot tougher than natural ballyhoo or mullet and are far easier to replace if they do get shredded 4. Hollow squids do not blow out and turn to mush...unlike that real stuff, they just keep on fishing, hour after hour and day-in

and day-out year after year.

Here is a drawing of an immensely popular configuration on SPIDERS, DaisyBars and Ruckus Raisers in areas where ballyhoo are important prey. The squids here are our ProSquids, great ballyhoo shape imitators. It doesn’t take too vivid an imagination to visualize what happens when a nice pod of eleven ballyhoo comes sliding along or raising hell on top, just under the surface, or deep off a downrigger or planer, with that one poor, doomed bait trying to catch up to its school, does it? And I remind you, the “ballyhoos” on THIS lightweight, easy pulling, easy handling, easy stowing dredge never blow out, never rot, never stink, never require rigging, or salt, or brines, or baking soda, they can be trolled at slow and fast speeds and they cost a mere fraction of what one of those monster dredges does, even without bait on them! While we don’t think that the Magic Marker created bills and color dots are important, some of our customers put them on (they don’t come that way) and we have to admit, they do look cool.

5. Hollow squid dredges (SPIDERS) are always ready to go at the drop of a hat. When you meter deep fish and bait, just pull them out and drop them in and get to catching.

6. They stow as easy as can be, too. No refrigeration or any of that stuff...just stow ‘em anywhere you please.

7. Hollow squids allow you to fish a myriad of deadly colors and sizes – natural baits don’t.

8. Hollow squids are very lightweight and hydrodynamic in shape – they tow like feathers, not trucks, like conventional metal dredges!

9. Hollow squids look and feel real. Unlike flat, paper-thin cutout teasers, they are three dimensional and look real from all angles.

10. That lightweight and easy towing open up dredge fishing for boats of all sizes, including very small ones.

Besides being tuna and dorado “candy” and with bigger chasebaits good marlin catchers, hollow squid sizes in the tiny-to-small ranges open up a whole new world of deep water dredge fishing with planers and downriggers, or even just trolling with trolling weights for smaller inshore species that prefer and get locked onto tiny, deep bait. SPIDER SMALLMOUTH, ONE OF 20 IN 45 MIN.! WAHOO, TUNA, MAHI & MARLIN TOO LITTLE TUNAS TOO

One of the deadliest of all of the SPIDERS, a pod of squid (chasebait not shown and this is only the forward part of this SPIDER) sliding by deep fish (yes ,those are glow-in-the-dark eyes) – fish that are probably down there to feed on squid in the first place, simply gets hammered by everything that eats squid...and that’s everything, inshore or offshore! Got a dredge that will do all of this in your arsenal, do ya? The smaller sized SPIDERS are flat-out deadly on any freshwater species that eats small baits – or even big ones. If you fish freshwater lakes and impoundments, try them. Rainbow, brown and lake trout, large and smallmouth bass, freshwater stripers, walleye and big crappie were all caught during field testing. 12. See our Price List. Bar lengths vary according to the size of the teasers and are designed and rigged to eliminate tangling while presenting the illusion of a tightly packed bait pod with a straggler trailing it. The chasebaits are rigged on our custom clips so that they can be changed easily and quickly. If you are after big tuna, marlin or wahoo, use our big SPIDERS, or change the chasebait on a little one to a nine or twelve inch squid. Remember to rig chasebaits on wire (or order them that way from us) if the wahoo are in town. We murdered the wahoos while field testing the SPIDERS, so be prepared!

As good as THE BABY SPIDER is on offshore gamefish, it is inshore where this little fellow is going to perform pure fishing magic for those clever enough to try them. As you can see, we have used them inshore with phenomenal results. The teasers and chasebaits are the same size of the near-universal prey of inshore species, be they fluke, halibut, weakfish, stripers, salmon (inshore and offshore) and who knows what else? TOUGH, WINDY CONDITIONS MAKING SURFACE FISHING TOUGH?

High winds and rough water can make trolling spreaderbars, other lures and even natural baits tough. FISH DREDGES TO RAISE AND CATCH TUNA AND MARLIN IN TOURNAMENTS Troll SPIDERS off of trolling weights and use the “IGFA legal” technique discussed in great detail in dorado, the two new tuna, and marlin books and catch, instead of just teasing up tournament marlin and tunas. IS THE NUMBER OF TEASERS, AND SPIDERS ARE BETTER DEEP FISHING LURES The ones in the preceding picture are running how this crazy looking, fish-raising, six legged bar runs almost all of the time, with the main bar and the upper ones out of the water and a surface explosion constantly following each of the two RuckusRaisers pictured on the left. It is very rare for the RuckusRaiser main bar to go in the water, no matter how fast or how slow you troll it and the few times it does go in, it pops right back out. It also stays out of the water for incredibly long distances behind the boat. That’s “little chasing big” and it simply doesn’t work that way in nature – it’s the other way around. Two different kinds of bait, birds and squids on a bar, are also unnatural as all get out. Members of natural bait schools are all the same size and species.

THE COMMOTION CAUSE BY A HYSTERICALLY FLEEING BAIT SCHOOL IS NATURAL And that’s exactly what these new RuckusRaisers bring to you and the fish – without all of the clunky, heavy, hard-pulling, unnatural garbage attached. RuckusRaisers do their thing in choppy, rough and calm waters, but it is when the sea conditions are on the calm side that they call in deep fish that see, hear and feel the frantic action up top and are attracted to it. Both billfish and tuna get really freaky when they are raised by the wild, surface disturbance and pounce on the little predator that is chasing the main bait pod and causing it! This is Fred again with a few words about our rigging. I take great pride in the quality of the components and the true professional rigging of everything that we make, right down to the rigging of our chasebaits – an afterthought for many of the so-called “bar manufacturers” out there. Our rigging is world-class and nothing less. Quality and professionalism show in what might seem to some to be the little details involved in the construction and rigging of a bar or lure. As far as we are concerned, there is no such thing as an “unimportant detail” when it comes to rigging lures for ourselves or for you.
