Sports for disabled

• Sports practiced by athletes with disabilities with the adaptation of the rules and equipment appropriate to the degree and type of performance limitations.

Disciplines and professions are usually based on existing sports and their rules, with modifications for handicapped riders. Sports events are organized, the Paralympic Games for athletes with physical disabilities and the Special Olympics for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Paralympic Games are held every four years since 1960.

Wheelchair Rugby• Wheelchair rugby, allows players with paraplegia

to participate in the sport at both positions offensive and defensive. During the game, two teams compete wheelchair rugby players. The team, which will receive a total of more points. The point is gained when one of the attacking players, along with he held the ball, pass defense and run through the gate.

Basketball

• Team sport for the disabled and sport integration.

• Rules of the game are similar to the rules of basketball. The objective of each team is to score as accurate throws to the opponents' basket. The team consists of five players.

Amputee football

• Soccer ball on one leg is a sport for amputees, the team for disabled players. It gives them balls and have to play with one leg raised. Goalkeepers have one arm, so they have to stick goalkeeper one on the back.

Wheelchair tennis

• Wheelchair tennis is one of the forms of tennis adapted for those who have disabilities in their lower bodies. The size of courts, balls, and rackets are same, but there are two major differences from pedestrian tennis; athletes use specially designed wheelchairs and the ball may bounce up to two times. The second bounce may also occur outside of the field.

Swimming for the Disabled

• Swimming is also a Paralympic discipline, practiced by people with disabilities. In order to divide the players into classes, which compete against each other as well as to compare the results of disability applies:

• S1 to S10 impaired locomotor system, • S11-S13,• S14 organs intellectual vision.

Showdown

• Sport designed for people with visual impairments, is a discipline of an integration. The showdown may also play non-disabled people - then their eyes are covered with opaque glasses. The game takes place on a special table framed slats. Playing with a ball made of plastic with a bell inside. Bell indicates the position of the ball. It reflects the wooden oars. Players hands are protected by gloves. Players are separated by a vertical screen, separating the two halves of the table.

Wheelchair fencing• Paralympic version of the fencing for the disabled.

During the battle, the players sitting on the wheelchair fencing attached to the so-called platforms. In addition to the traditional division of the discipline on the foil, saber and sword, there is a division according to the degree of disability:

• A (leg amputations, paralysis)• B (spinal cord injury with paralysis of the legs or

hands low paralysis)• C (total inertia paralysis of the legs and hands,

not in the IP).

Paracycling

• Discipline practiced by athletes with disabilities. Players are divided into groups depending on your hardware:

• B – tandem• H1-H4 – handbike• T1-T2 – tricycle• C1-C5 - a traditional bicycle, including modified

Paralympic equestrian

• Sports riding disabled, comprises the following riding disciplines: dressage, show jumping, rides, horse-drawn carriage. The paralympic equestrian competitions are organized exactly as the ordinary occupations:

• social, • promotional, • nationwide, etc.

Wheelchair curling

• Curling game adapted for the disabled wheelchair access. Games are played at the same rink as able-bodied curling, used the same stones. The differences lie in the fact that the stone is discharged from the truck stopped, there is also no brushing.

Goalball

• Team game for the blind and visually impaired. A team consists of three players, playing blindfolded, defending the goal of height 1.3 meters takes up the entire width of the pitch.

Monoskiing

• Winter sport in which, as in snowboarding, use one ski. The difference is that in monoskiingu feet are parallel to the axis of the ski, and not at an angle.

• In monoskiing feet are next to each other. Just like in snowboarding boots can not themselves be unplugged from the skis. In monoskiingu are used appropriately shorter ski poles.

Practising sport with the disableds in our school

In April 2015 our school invited a group of disabled paralympic sportsmen. Although the men went through the hard times in their lives, they did not surrender. They had dreams, which allowed them to be successful in life. The students of our school had a unique opportunity to feel the hardships of the disableds and more.. they had opportunity to play sports on the wheelchairs. Let’s check some photos..
