About the hosts

On behalf of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Oman Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OSOG), we invite you to participate in the rescheduled 2020 RCOG World Congress, to be held in Oman 27 - 30 January 2021.

The Congress is the major event in the calendar for clinicians practising in obstetrics and gynaecology, attracting around 3,000 delegates. It will provide your organisation with exclusive opportunities to showcase your work, interact with participants and learn about the latest developments in this rapidly changing and expanding field.

In 2021, our Congress will be held in the brand new Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, just four kilometres from Muscat International Airport.

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) works to improve women’s healthcare across the world. It encourages the study and advancement of the science and practice of obstetrics and gynaecology. The RCOG: · Develops the education, training and exam programme for doctors wishing to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology · Provides a continuing professional development programme for qualified obstetricians and gynaecologists, including practical skills courses and educational and scientific meetings and conferences, to ensure their skills remain up to date · Publishes clinical guidelines that set standards for high quality women’s healthcare, including national clinical guidelines through the NICE-funded National Guideline Alliance · Works with international partners to improve sexual and reproductive healthcare and reduce maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide, through its global health strategy · Publishes statements and reports on issues of public importance relevant to obstetrics and gynaecology · Contributes to policy development as it affects the obstetrics and gynaecology profession, the health service and wider women’s health concerns · Promotes academic work in obstetrics and gynaecology to ensure continued improvement in the service members offer to women · Carries out audit and quality improvement projects to improve women’s healthcare · Supports other organisations with similar objectives to the College, including specialist societies · Works with the RCOG Women’s Network to ensure women’s views are at the heart of everything it does · Publishes patient information leaflets explaining medical conditions and the levels of care women can expect to receive in an accessible and engaging way · Helps employers, commissioners and managers provide safe and sustainable services that improve women’s health through its invited review service · Advises the government and other public bodies on healthcare matters relating to obstetrics and gynaecology and the wider determinants of women’s health

The Omani Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OSOG) is a non-profit organisation was founded in June 2013 under the umbrella of Oman Medical Association (OMA). This organisation working towards advocat-ing and promoting women’s health and reproductive rights using scientific evidence and following the highest ethical standards through its membership of committed professionals in Oman. The main objectives of OSOG are to::• Encourage dissemination of knowledge and education as well as research in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology in Oman• Promote preventive and therapeutic services related to healthcare of women and newborn• Advocate for the reproductive and sexual health and rights of women in Oman• Support co-operation with organisations relevant to the Society, the government and institutions of higher learning • Affiliate with international organisations involved with obstetrics and gynaecology

ExhibitionInformationThe Oman Convention & Exhibition Cen-

tre is located in its own fully integrated

precinct only four kilometres from Mus-

cat International Airport. Architecturally

advanced in design and capability, this

world class venue will be amongst the

first to be built to meet the rigorous LEED

certification by the U.S. Green Building

Council. The Centre ensures a flow of the

meeting spaces to suit the most discern-

ing conference and exhibition organisers.

It also incorporates expansive concourse

areas to enable ease of large delegations

with floor to ceiling windows overlook-

ing landscaped gardens and water fea-

tures.

The Centre features two tiered auditoriums to seat 3,200 and 450, while the five exhibition halls feature 22,396

square metres of column-free exhibition space. Hall 1 acts as a multi-purpose space for plenary sessions, concerts,

performances and gala dinners on a larger scale. Halls 1 & 2 combined can seat over 10,000 seated in theatre-style.

The Centre also includes an ad-

Muscat International Airport is a state-of-

the-art airport located in the northern part

of Muscat and was opened on January 20,

2018. The airport initially brought the air-

port’s capacity up to 20 million passengers

a year upon completion of the first phase.
