The award was presented to ManagingDirector Doug Robinson by Jane Elsworth,Marketing Manager of Sunrise Medical,at their recent Elite Dealers’ meeting.

Chris Bull from Surrey suffered a spinal cord injury in1992 and, because of constant muscle wastage, hebecame prone to increasing problems from pressuresores. ‘I was basically sitting on skin and bone,’ he said. ‘Icouldn’t have an implant and I was seriously consideringsurgery. I couldn’t manage sitting for more than six orseven hours at a time maximum, so I spent most of mytime clock watching. I had no social life to speak of. Itwasn’t much fun.’

Over the years Chris had tried a range ofcushions to solve his particular problems, but withoutmuch luck, before, in July, he tried a Jay J3 cushionfrom Gerald Simonds in his Storm 3 wheelchair. ‘It’sgiven me my social life back,’ he explained. ‘It’s enabledme to sit comfortably for up to 13 hours a day.’ Thanksto the J3 Chris is now able to lead an active social lifewith friends and family.

Bernard Munro has been a fan of West Ham footballclub for the past 62 years, attending his first match whenhe was three years old. Living in East London, Bernardsays he has always been ‘potty’ about the club. As anoutward sign of his club loyalty he recently asked us todress his TiLite TR wheelchair in the club’s famous claretand blue colours and add their crest to the spokeguards.Never wanting to come between a man and his passion,we happily agreed, with the result as shown (left).

Unfortunately, there is a down side. Peopleare always asking Bernard where he got his customisedchair from. ‘I never tell them,’ he said, ‘otherwise every-body would have them.’ So now the secret is out canwe please ask you to keep it to yourself!
