WELCOME to “the best little country fair!” – It’s more than you think!!On behalf of the Abbotsford Agrifair Board of Directors and staff , it is my great plea-sure to invite you to one of the greatest and most beloved annual summer traditions for families in the Fraser Valley and beyond. Th e Abbotsford Agrifair and Mighty Fraser Rodeo, returning for the 104th year on Au-gust 1-4, 2014, is a four-day, fun-fi lled event that bridges the gap between “urbanites” and “ruralites.” Our goal with the fair has always been to execute an event that surpasses expectations and satisfi es the diverse interests of the pub-lic with aff ordable fun for the entire family. Th is year is no exception. With all the great shows, concerts and amazing attractions, it’s a diff erent show every day!Don’t miss a beat with our $15 all-week-end wristband, and watch a diff erent show every day. Special must-see events include the Valley Voices Vocal Competition fi nals performances, Audio Adrenaline, the Demolition Derby, Th e Mighty Fraser Pro Rodeo, the Strathcona Mounted Troop and of course, the famous West Coast Amusement midway.A heartfelt thank you goes out to the City of Abbotsford for its strong and continuous support, and thank you to our guests from all across the province and country, as well as our sponsors and committed volunteers. To those who are coming back to take in all of the action of the fair again this year, and to the newcomers who will be joining the festiv-ities for this fi rst time, we can hardly wait to celebrate and make great memories with all of you.

A different show every day

One of many action-packed family events at AgrifairAre you ready for an action-packed, full-contact, smashing show that will get your adrenaline pumping? Th en the Dem-olition Derby at Agrifair is just the lively event for you and your family. Due to the huge success of this event last year, it’s back for another year of combat and we’ve added a second performance. Th e Demo-lition Derby will include a variety of races and wreckage for your entertainment. In these high power races, drivers must out-manoeuver one another by racing forward, backward, around, or over top of multiple obstacles. Also returning this year is the mini van demolition race, which guarantees jaw-dropping entertain-ment. Kids will enjoy the high energy and huge collisions, while adults will appreci-ate the skillfulness and courage of these experienced drivers.Th is has truly been a family aff air for veteran of the Derby Ross Edwards. Ross

began racing at 15 years old, and kept the tradition alive with his children, neph-ews and grandchildren all continuing to participate in the sport. “We have always placed a high priority on making the Demolition Derby a family fun event and ensuring that each fan out there is enjoy-ing themselves,” said the retired racer. He guarantees this year’s event will include all of the same hitting, passing, slamming, banging and racing that fans have adored for years.A number of Ross’ family members will be directly involved in the Demolition Derby this year, with some of the old-er generations racing in show and the younger ones helping with demonstra-tions. Ross’ grandchildren, although not racing at Agrifair, plus other children aged 5-16 of the Quarter Midget Class of racers, will be on-site to give motorsport demonstrations and bring more aware-

ness to the exciting sport.During each show, children can look for-ward to prizes being distributed through-out the audience. Also, immediately aft er each Derby, spectators are welcome to come down to check out the cars and meet the brave and talented drivers. Th ese driver will be happyto have their picture taken and answer any questions about the races and the sport. In an exciting addition to this year’s Agri-fair the Demolition Derby has moved out of the dirt-covered rodeo arena for the fi rst time, and into its own paved stadium – the Capt’n Crunch Motorsports Arena.Th e hour and a half show, sponsored by Playtime Chances Abbotsford Casino, will take place on Sunday and Monday at 3:00pm. Be sure to get there early to guarantee the best seats in the house!

Grammy award-winning Christian rock group set to light up Agrifair main stageMusic lovers rejoice. Columbia Cabinets - Countertops and Fra-serway RV are proud to present the critically acclaimed and award-winning Christian music group Audio Adrenaline set to rock this year’s Agrifair. With the promise of hits like Worldwide and Until My Heart Caves In, this is a show that will be remembered for years to come. Audio Adrenaline, a contemporary and alternative Christian rock music band was originally formed in the 1980s and spent the last 30 years touring the continent and preaching their faith. Th ey have been favourites and regular attrac-tions at various events through-out the years, such as the annual Creation Festival, Spirit West Coast Festival, Alive Festival, and Agape Music Festival. Th e band has also landed two Grammy Awards and numerous GMA Dove Awards with their catchy and relate-able music, and has created a loyal fan follow-ing. Th eir fun, yet hard-core anthems were fi rst noticed by Forefront Records’ president Dan Brock, who introduced the dedicated group to

the world with their fi rst self-titled album, and soon aft er, the Don’t Censor Me album. Although band members have changed slightly throughout the years, the group has

managed to stick to their roots and now features Josh Engler on vocals and keyboard, Will McGinniss on bass, Jared Byers on drums, and Dwayne Larring on guitar. Th eir

melodic synchronicity has man-aged to create an irresistible fusion of rap, rock and funk tunes that are great to jam along to. Opening for Audio Adrenaline at

Agrifair is the winner of the 2014 Praise 106.5 Local Music Search contest, Mike Barton. Native of Chilliwack, BC, Barton grew up singing and playing the electric guitar, bass, drums and piano. During his time spent at Portland Bible College getting his bachelor’s degree in church music, he discov-ered a love for song writing and wrote, engineered and produced two praise and worship albums. With the sweet sounding and beau-tifully written All For You, Barton is sure to set the tone for a night of enjoyment and enlightenment. To kick off the family fun evening of musical entertainment, 2013’s Praise 106.5 Local Music Search winner Leanna Crawford will also take the stage to warm up the crowd with her reverent and inspired Christian pop songs. Crawford is scheduled to perform at 7:30pm on Sunday, August 3rd, followed by Barton at 8:15pm, and the highly anticipated Audio Adrenaline at 9:00pm. Be sure to bring your blanket and grab your spot on the grass for a night of wor-ship and guaranteed fun!

Wishing “the best little country fair” another successful year!

Magnuson has a wheely cool showTh e exclusive Wheely Cool Show spon-sored by Magnuson Ford is set to be the hottest spot at this year’s Abbotsford Agrifair. Th e Wheely Cool Show will host three themed exhibits: pre-1972 classics and hot rods on Saturday, Ser-vice on Safety on Sunday and Anything Cool on Wheels on Monday. On Saturday, the area will feature some of the best custom-built cars, including pre-1972 classics and hot rods from dozens of proud collectors, and is already anticipating large crowds, especially with such huge prizes at stake. Th is dazzling display will appeal to both car enthusiasts and new fans alike. With a $1,000 fi rst place People’s Choice Award, a second place $750 prize, and a third place $500 prize, this is not an event to be missed. On Sunday, fair attendees can look for-ward to the Service on Safety (SOS) Day, where Abbotsford Fire and Ambulance will be on site chatting and showing off their offi cial rigs. Th is is your chance to thank our fearless community he-roes and get a peak inside their well-

equipped rides. Don’t miss the Fire De-partment’s two “Jaws of Life” extraction demonstrations. You can also meet the talented bomb squad dogs on SOS day. Th ese friendly canines are trained to protect our community and help in the event of an emergency.Wrapping up the Magnuson Wheely Cool Show will be the Anything Cool on Wheels spectacle on Monday, August

4th. Th is exhibit encompasses Van-couver Tumblebus, Science World, Library Live, Creative Cube, Fosters Street Team, custom built cars, a 50th anniversary tribute to Mustangs and

much more. A special addition to this year’s Anything Cool on Wheels will be the feature car – a newly restored 1967 Ford Mustang T5, which is guaranteed to impress even the toughest critic. Th ese beauties will defi nitely make you appreciate the challenge of maintaining vintage vehicles. With so much to off er on all four days, make sure to purchase a weekend pass at a reduced rate and don’t let this sensational car show opportunity slip away.

New Cone Zone tests your road safety skillsA new and educational at-traction to grace the Agrifair grounds this BC Day long weekend is the Cone Zone, a safely marked go-kart track where youth can put their driv-ing skills to the test. Th ose ages 10-16 can attempt to expertly manoeuver their go-karts as they are guided through a road course with detoured areas, while avoiding traditional work zone hazards like trucks, cranes and cones. Th e young-er children will be suited-up with all the coolest protective gear like hard helmets, safety vests and stop signs to get in the spirit of things. Adults too

can get involved in the fun by challenging themselves in a 3D work zone simulator.Th e Cone Zone program was initiated by the Work Zone Safety Alliance with sponsor-ship from WorkSafeBC, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Justice Institute of British Columbia, to educate the public on the dangers of working in roadside locations. Since 2004, there have been 239 injuries reported in actual roadside worksites, and 15 deaths. By publicizing these alarming statistics and providing a safe place to teach

youth proper driving tech-niques, the campaign is hoping to bring awareness to drivers to take every precaution when entering work zones in their vehicles.

With the motto “Cone Zone = Slow Down”, this informative attraction is sure to provide safe entertainment and ample amounts of fun during the fair. All are welcome to visit, as there will be demonstra-tions, activities and Cone Zone themed circuits that will appeal to current and future drivers of all ages.

Dance and sing along to chart-topping recordsA diverse selection of musical talent will take to Agrifair’s main stage this year. Tribute bands will have guests singing along to the standout hits of the 50s and 60s and British Colum-bia based group, Me and Mae, will bring their country vibe and killer vocals. Also, the Valley Voices Vocal Competition is returning to the Agrifair to celebrate Canada’s rising stars. To kick off Friday evening, tribute concert by Totally Tom Petty and the Women of Rock - comprised of tributes to Deborah Harry of Blond-ie, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders - will entertain with an evening of nostalgia and excitement as some of the world’s greatest record-breaking songs are performed. Th ink Pat Be-natar’s “Hit Me with your Best Shot,” Stevie Nicks’ “Gypsy,” Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” and much more.Performing as Tom Petty, Phil Dunget is the host, lead guitarist and lead vocalist for Totally Tom Petty and the Women of Rock. sive anchor and half of Totally Tom’s rhythm section, this duo, paired with the Women of Rock, make for a hit band that’ll have you dancing the night away.Paying tribute to one of the most celebrated and legendary entertain-ers of all time, vocalist Steve “Elvis” Elliott will take the main stage on Saturday with iconic songs that’ll have you rockin’ to the beat. Steve Elliott has his Elvis impression down to a tee with the smooth voice and slick style that made the great rocker so recognizable in the 50s and 60s.

Steve will be crooning through the ballads and rockabilly hits, and is ready to shake things up at the fair.Full of raw energy, witty humour and that undeniable charisma that took the Beatles from the Cavern Club in Liverpool and propelled them to super stardom, and performing at Agrifair on Saturday, the Fab Fourever, Canada’s Beatles tribute band, will transport you back to the 60s – a time when the music was a soundtrack to a generation. It is the perfect time to kick back and enjoy tunes that took the world
