All Club members by now should be familiar with the Rotary International website. While some members are finding it difficult to use it does improve as you get used to it.

Grant types

• District grants

• District grants fund smaller, short-term activities that address needs in both your local community and communities worldwide. Each district gets to choose which activities it will fund with these grants.

• We have just received $33494; this year’s allocation of District grants from funds raised three years ago

Ken Hall
$3,450.00.  The exact amount may change according to alterations in the exchange rate between now and when the applications are finalised by RI. The application to the Foundation is in the process of being completed and submitted.  When the money will become available is not clear at present, but we would hope that this will take place in the new year if there are no complications.

Although Pakistan remains the country of most concern it is pleasing to note that through the efforts and funding by the Rotary and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundations the year to date figures are slightly down with Nigeria showing the most promise with the last case reported in July. Only Wild type A Polio cases are seen in these tables with no cases reported for Type C in the past two years. Another success.

It is safe to say that polio eradication would not be possible without the contribution of women. This International Women’s Day, the theme is ‘Make It Happen: encouraging effective action for advancing and recognising women’. Women in polio eradication vaccinate children on the frontline, implement strong surveillance and data analysis systems, provide technical and scientific support to governments, and mobilize communities.

money!

Ken Hall
Only by our continual support of the Rotary Foundation can we ensure that the good works of Rotary can continue into the future. For every dollar we raise this year ½ is returned to the District in three years time.
