It was then used as a family hack until it just gave up in the early eighties. By then it had been all over the UK and the Continent. Rebuilt by my father a twenty years ago, but never used. Now re-commissioned, it still has a Redhill Motors of Brighton brass plaque on the rear number plate.

1948 Norton P6A Prototype 500 Pre 1950Bike Details: This motorcycle is the Jack Moore Norton Prototype 500cc twin, which Bracebridge planned to

put into production in 1948. However, it proved too costly to build and was shelved in favour of the Bert Hopwood design which became known as the Model 7. The engine in this bike is one of only two surviving Jack Moore designed engines. The shelved production bike was intended to use the same frame as the ES2. However, this required new engine and gearbox mounting plates, plus modifications to get the primary and rear chain alignment correct. All these issues were overcome in the Bert Hopwood design. After the war they began making motorcycles. The two-stroke flat-twin proved very successful, and was nick-named the 'little ant'.This bike originally belonged to my late father, this scooter has a 125cc air cooled twin cylinder 2-stroke engine. The engine casings and frame work are all made from cast aluminium.

Factory records show the frame number 60/1491 was supplied as a trials machine to Commerfords. However a GRA official has confirmed that it is a Hawkstone Scrambler, and clearly saw hard competition in its early years - any info on its history welcomed! Took part in the 2013 VMCC Dorset Week - excellent smiles per mile, and now even more since electronic ignition was fitted!

1960 Matchless Pluto Oil-in-Frame 646 1960-69Bike Details: The Pluto is an experimental oil-in-frame design by AMC and was named after of PLUTO, the

famous oil pipeline under the English Channel to supply fuel to allied-occupied France during WWII. The code-name Pluto stood for 'Pipe Lines Under The Ocean' or 'Pipe-Line Underwater Transportation of Oil'.The frame was constructed in the Plumstead works experimental shop around 1960, and internal factory memos suggest that there was a manufacturing cost-saving when using the OIF design. Over ten years later, BSA/Triumph introduced road models using the OIF design, but they proved unpopular with some riders due to the increased seat height. It's fitted with a late G12CSR 650cc twin-cylinder engine and gearbox. First time at this Show for this prototype machine that never went into production.

1960 Matchless G12 CSR 650 1960-69Bike Details: This bike has undergone a complete rebuild and repaint. I owned one in 1960 and rode 60,000

by the present owner in 2006 as a poor example of a cafe racer. The most difficult modification was removing the tinware primary chain casings and replacing them with a set of early Commando alloy casings. The timing side and oil delivery was a challenge as the top-end cylinder head totally filled with oil after a few miles. A 650cc downdraft head with twin-carbs and a set of swept-back pipes with big-bore silencers have been fitted, together with an aluminium slimline petrol tank and a custom-made oil tank. The rest is down to hours of polishing, to produce a sixties Cafe Racer. The bike is used - ridden up mountains in Italy, thrashed over the mountain in the Isle of Man and completed parade laps at Brands Hatch and Donington.

Brought back from the USA in 1998, Al Perry the American owner rode it to Woodstock, the famous music festival. Despite all the bad press this model attracted it goes very well and is oil-tight. Only 62 are known to exist.Featured in 'Classic Bike' magazine in February 2018.

A joy to hear, in latter years it's just been displayed. initially from overheating problems, it lapped MIRA at 120mph. Norton never put the engine into production, and it was tested in a model 77 frame. Sadly, development of the engine was 'canned' in 1963 after Norton was taken over by AMC. It was intended to replace all AMC and Norton twin engines from 1964. Now fitted in a 1965 Norton N15CS frame, to show what might have been. The engine would have disappeared had it not been rescued by dedicated individuals, one other exists, in a slimline Featherbed frame. The engine rebuild by ex-Factory development engineer Richard Negus was documented in RealClassic magazine.

Faulkner's of Oxford. I purchased the bike in boxes in 1996, when it had been dismantled, presumably to be restored. The engine was in bits and many parts from the engine and rolling chassis were missing. The petrol tank that came with it was a Fastback tank, so I decided to restore it as a Fastback as I had owned one in 1969. I started the restoration in 2010 and the work took three years. Where possible the original parts were restored. The front mudguard is in fact from my original 1968 model, which had been damaged in an accident, replaced, and left in the back of the garage for forty years.
