Reprocessing - AGNS

• 1970 - Allied-General Nuclear

commercial reprocessing plant at

– Capable of 1500 tons/yr

– 400 acres

– ~$350M spent

• 1977 President Carter policy

change

• 1981 - Convinced that the project

could not proceed on a private

basis and that reprocessing was

commercially impracticable,

Allied halted the Barnwell project.
