Domino software includes a powerful administration client and web browser interface to help enable smooth, efficient management of IBM Domino servers. Every Domino software license comes with Domino domain monitoring, a problem-determination resource that helps administrators recognize critical server and client issues within minutes. You also get IBM Domino Configuration Tuner software to help with server configuration, performance bottlenecks and security issues. To help minimize help desk visits, Domino software offers the Notes ID vault password recovery system and Smart Upgrade technology, which performs centralized upgrades of IBM Notes clients.

For organizations seeking to downsize infrastructure yet still maintain on-premises control, Domino software helps reduce the need for hardware-oriented resources that can consume an IT budget, such as power consumption, memory, data storage and the labor required for administrative tasks. The software also decreases required disk usage and network input–output using advanced compression features for applications containing lengthy documents, rich text and graphics images. And the Domino attachment and object service helps reduce storage and management by storing a single copy of an attachment on the server.

Domino software continues to incorporate security-rich capabilities, with a built-in public key infrastructure that authenticates IBM Notes users and servers, verifies digital signatures, and encrypts messages and applications, including individual fields within applications. The software supports X.509 Internet certificates and helps government agencies that require products that conform to Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2. Keep tight control on access by using control lists that specify an access level, access level privileges, a user type, and one or more roles.

Clustering technology allows you to tie multiple Domino servers together to create a seamless experience and enable a highly available, high-performance messaging or application environment. Users can gain access to current business data as applications continually replicate throughout servers, synchronizing for consistency.

The latest release provides key capabilities for effective administration and development:

●● ● Domino software now supports Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) from the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), allowing administrators to configure federated-identity authentication and single sign-on.

●● ● Administrators can prevent incoming return receipt requests while preventing client users from using settings for a return receipt on outgoing messages.

●● ● Server-side JavaScript (SSJS) Debugger in Domino Designer software now allows you to debug against either the Domino Designer local preview server or a Domino server.

For years, IBM XPages technology has helped in-house or independent developers create thousands of social business desktop and mobile applications with a document-driven, NoSQL architecture that includes an integrated workflow engine and support for open web standards and for representa-tional state transfer (REST) interfaces. And new XPages enhancements include OpenSocial gadget controls, content assist, hyperlink navigation, hover help, memory management improvements, HTML5 and portable network graphics (PNG) file support.
