SolaRoof Solar water-heating System as part of a roof
The objective: To utilize the strong sun of Africa in order to supply hot water for showers and laundries, using solar energy.
SolaRoof SolaRoof is a roof that contains a system of tubes which absorbs the energy of the sun, and heat up the water passing through them.
The roof is built of 3 layers, where the top and bottom layers are made of polycarbonate profiles of different colors. The middle layer is an array of dark plastic tubes, through which the water pass. Structure bottom layer is grey, and so blocks the light and reflects it back towards the tubes. The top polycarbonate layer is almost completely transparent, in order to transmit as much light as possible, while the

Physics 1Sq. M roof Gets 130 kcal./Hr 1m 3 /hr Flowing through tubes Water temperature rise in 0.13c
Practics Average roof of 30 Sq. M Estimated flow rate 1m 3 /hr Water temperature rise in 4-5c
In order to avoid a high temperature at first use, the water will go through a 200L. Tank The tank absorbs the extra heat and moderates the temperature at different flow rates. Temperature moderation
