Visual VariantsThe visual variants of Soak Cordura are realised fromorientation of the fabric colours. The fabric colours can beinstalled in singles or double combos - pastels, darks orcontrasts.Current standard fabric colours include: (See page 4)• Calypso • Skye • Porcelain• Simba • Spearmint • Sanz• Blaze • Lime • Wasabi• Avocado • Jade • Myst

Design Considerations• The longer edges of the panels can be oriented

horizontally or vertically to make a space look visuallylonger or taller.

• Indicated panel thickness is for base panel only. 3 mm offabric thickness and 5 mm of Z-Clip or H-Spline systemshould be added to overall Soak thickness. Hence, 10mm panel means 18 mm system thickness post-install.For true 10mm only go for Slim PNS or Slim Compo!

• Panels should not touch the floor but rest on Sonatorwooden skirting which may be repeated at the wall-ceilingjunction.

• Panels must be fitted in modules that are dimensionedin multiples of 600mm to avoid field cutting.

Product considerationsFabric shade may vary from batch to batch due tolimitations in dye technology. Butt jointing of differentbatch numbers is not recommended.

Variants by SubstratesAnutone's unique AcoustCombi™ technology, variablesound absorption, is realised from substrate variants• Soak Strand Cordura – base panel natural surface for

mid and high frequency sound absorption for allapplications

• Soak Burl Cordura – blinded surface suitable for low-frequency sound absorption and high-frequency soundreflection for for variable acoustics and extended bassresponse in banquet halls, auditoria, cinema, studios, home theatres etc

The AcoustCombi technology works very well with Size Zeropanels of Soak Cordura.

Variants by Core (does not apply to Size Zero)For Noise Isolation, technical variants are realised fromthe core material - the Soak Septum Series –

• Soak Septum Cordura

• Soak Septum T1/T2/T3 Cordura

in all applications where sound absorption and noise isolationis required, especially offices, studios, home theatres etc

Tech Performance - Base Panel• Non-combustibility - Mass loss 53% @ 750oC - ISO 1182

• Ignitibility – ‘P’ - BS 476 Part 5

• Fire Propagation Index – 5.17 - BS 476 Part 6

• Surface Spread – Class I - BS 476 Part 7

• Specific Optical Density of Smoke

- Flaming Exposure 26.28 Dm (Corr) - ASTM E662

• Thermal Conductivity – 0.08 Wm/k - IS 3346

• Base panel conforms to EN 13168 2001.

Variants by Density (does not apply to Size Zero)Anutone's unique VDH technology - Variable Density Hybrid- is available in Soak Cordura. This allows for space-savingA-mounting of panels but with AutoAir - an automaticairgap for an acoustic infill of Synth for additional soundabsorption. Panel size is restricted to 600x1200x25mmon H-Spline only. Applications include offices, hometheatres where more sound absorption than that providedby regular A-mounted Soak Strand Cordura is needed.

Now Size Zero makes VDH and AutoAir redundant incertain application. Strut CC10 with Synth 10x10 providesa slim backer to Soak Cordura 10 & 15mm thick panels.

Tech Performance - FabricFlammability Test Results as per AS1530 Part 3• Spread of Flame (Index 0-10) 0• Smoke Developed (Index 0-10)3As per AS/NZS 3837• Group Number 1 - Avg Specific Extinction Area 49.7m2/kgFlammability Test Results as per BS476• Part 5 - Ignitibility – ‘P’• Part 6 - Fire Propagation Index – 3.1• Part 7 - Class 1Y

Site Considerations• Cartons of Soak Cordura must be stored on a flat, dry surface.

• They must not come in contact with water.

• Wall surfaces must be devoid of moisture prior to installation.

• The final act of panel installation must be performed only when all other works are completed and site has attainedoccupancy conditions in terms of room temperature and humidity.

• Trained and skilled technicians must install Soak Cordura. ‘Soft’ and ‘clean’ handling is a must. 10 & 15mm thickpanels are fragile and require very careful handling.

• For wall edges and corners where cut panels are required, the fabric can be peeled back and cut to size, the basepanel cut to size and fabric bonded again with rubber-based adhesives.

• Panels can be nylon brushed and/or vacuumed post-installation.

Anutone’s Selec programme makes it easy for architects, consultants, contractors and clients to apply Soak Cordurato architectural spaces. System selection of Soak Cordura is suitable for but not limited to the following spaces.

STEP 1 & STEP 2Mark location of each panel on wall for A-mounting (or on Strut CC10/22/50 for C or D-type mounting), to determine panel usage, position and inside/outside corner details.Install Sonator wooden skirting at base ofwall for panel support. Make sure it is level.Height of skirting depends on architecturalrequirements, usually 150 mm.

STEP 3 & STEP 4Position first panel, using level to assureplumb. Insert first H-spline section intogroove on panel long edge and against wall.Start at top of panel. Spline should be suitablyattached to the wall so that it is firmly inplace. Add splines down to rest of thepanel till the Sonator wooden skirting, makingsure plumb is maintained.

STEP 5Position next panel onwall and slide itagainst first H-splineuntil they fully engagein the groove. Fix H-spline to oppositeedge groove and to

wall as done with first panel. Continueprocedure along wall length, checking plumbof each panel.NOTE : If a cut Soak Cordura panel is neededto fill inside corner, do not fasten the last rowof H-splines to wall.

STEP 6Measure spacefrom last panel tocorner at top, middle andbottom of area.

Transfer these measurements to the faceof the panel. Place panel, fabric side up, onsmooth and clean surface and using handor power saw, cut through fabric and panelso that cut edge is the edge that will fit in thecorner.

STEP 7Apply adhesive to back of last full panel alongopen H-spline that will be used in that edge,(See B), and to back of cut panel, (See C).Insert the last attached H-spline. Insert H-spline with adhesive into other groove oflast full panel. Insert groove of cut panel intothe H-spline and insert cut edge into corner. Then apply pressure at joint between panel(See D), until contact is made with the wall.Hold until adhesive sets. Secure cut cornerpanel to wall with four finishing nails alongoutside edge of panel at corner. Space themevenly and drive at 450 angle. A new, fullpanel should be used as the first panel afterthe corner (See E). Butt it against front ofcut corner panel after putting adhesive alongthe length of the panel’s thickedge. Continue down this wall (Steps #1through #5).

STEP 8Measure spacefrom last full panelto corner at top, middle and bottom.

Add 50mm, to these measurements.Transcribe these measurements to face ofpanel to be cut. Place panel, fabric side up,on smooth and clean surface, using hand orpower saw, cut through the fabric and panelalong the marked line.

STEP 9Gently peel fabricback 75mm from cutedges of both panelpieces. Draw a line

on the Soak Cordura panels of both pieces50mm back from the cut edge, and parallel tothe cut edge along the length of the panel.

STEP 10Making sure thefabric is foldedback out of the way,cut off this 50mmwide strip of the

base panel on both pieces. Remove any loosefibres that may remain.

STEP 11On one piece, apply hot melt glue to the panelalong the 25mm wide exposed top where

the material waspeeled back, alongthe cut edge, andalong a 25mm widestrip on the back

next to the cut edge. Wrap fabric back overface, around edge, and over back so itadheres, stretch tight, eliminating any foldsor creases. Repeat procedure with otherpanel piece.

STEP 12On panel cut to fitcorner width, apply adhesive toSoak Cordura

panel along the length of the panel, just beyondfabric along the cut edge. Place panel on walland slip it into the last installed H-spline. Hold untiladhesive sets.

STEP 13Apply adhesive insame manner toother panel piece.Position it on wall

around corner so it completely overlaps endof other corner panel. Slip H-spline into thegroove in the opposite edge and continuedownward in the same manner as previously.

Soak Cordura range of products are extremely durable and require little attention to maintain their good looks. Lightvacuuming on a regular basis will prevent dust build up and most marks can be cleaned with a mild detergent solutionfollowed by rinsing and blotting. Stains should be dealt with according to the chart below.

• Before carrying out a proposed cleaning method, apply to a concealed section to ensure it will not affect the adhesiveor wall covering

• Avoid severe abrasion• Vacuum to restore pile, but do not use a stiff brush.

Note: Anutone does not recommend solvent based cleaners on Soak Cordura

Anutone offers the above recommendations in good faith. However, Anutone cannot be responsible for unsatisfactoryresults arising from the proposed treatments.

Anutone recommends that you contact professional cleaning experts should you require further assistance with thecleaning and maintenance of Soak Cordura.

Maintenance

A Mop up excess as soon as possible with a sponge or cloth.

B Remove surplus with a knife edge or appropriate instrument.

C Sponge with a solutions of carpet shampoo working from well outside the stain in a circular motion towards thecentre (this avoids spreading the stain). Sponge afterwards with clean warm water and mop up excess moisturewith a clean dry cloth or sponge. Allow to dry then brush gently with a soft brush. If any stain remains, sponge witha solution of one part household bleach to six parts clear water. Thoroughly rinse after treatment.

D Lightly sponge with household dry cleaning fluid and blot. Apply sparingly, as the substance may have an adverseeffect on the adhesive.

E Sponge with methylated spirits and blot dry.

G Apply nail polish remover. The nail polish remover should not include lanolin or be of a greasy nature.

H Sponge with turpentine (or substitute).

I Freeze with ice cubes and scrape away while cold.

J Clean with regular extractive carpet cleaner (if possible).

K Use circular cutter and remove damaged portion. Re-glue new piece into place.

Size Zero is the current fad. Everybody wants it slim,

superslim! After Size Zero laptops, smartphones,

televisions and ramp models, comes the ultra-slim, ultra-chic Soak series of fabric-wrapped wall panels.

Soak Cordura earlier had a limitation of minimum thickness,20mm. This was due to kerfed long edges to receive H-

Spline. This also resulted in a site problem of panels being

able to be dismantled from one corner only.

Now to meet the demand from designers for space-saving

slimmer panels, Anutone has innovated to result in 10mmthick panels that can be hung on walls and more importantly

dismantled from any point. Also all edges are fully finished

so panels can be installed discretely as floating islands!
