SMRF

Introduction The Company Senior Architectural Systems are a group of companies based in the United Kingdom who operate through a network of regional Service Centres. Its' operations include the main business of stockholding in both systemized and standard aluminium extrusions. Mill finish, anodised (natural and bronze), and powder coated sections are all available, along with all of the necessary accessories for manufacture. The incorporation of new or modified sections, system compatible, is carried out when required. The emphasis is on service to our clients, with response speed being very much of the essence. Deliveries are made on dedicated vehicles in our own livery, into all areas of the country on a regular basis - collections can be easily arranged for direct release (ex. works) to our clients' instructions. Short notice collections can also be arranged in the event of the occasional, and inevitable 'emergency'.

Scope This specification covers the materials, sections and accessories generally available from stock through the Senior Architectural Systems group of companies. It illustrates typical recommendations for the fabrication of our SMRF Frameless Casement. The sections and fittings described in this manual are not definitive or exclusive in application but show typical assemblies using standard materials and accessories. These details are suitable for installations in both new buildings and re-furbishments, which should comply with the latest building regulations.

Construction SMRF Frameless Casement Windows are constructed using mitred and mechanical corners, with support chevrons and cleats. A proprietary sealant to protect against water entry should be used on all metal-to-metal joints and cleat insertion points at assembly. Opening Window Frames are designed to be inserted directly into the outer frames using friction stays. Glazing is double glazing 28mm standard. At all times good working practices should be employed.

Accessories

All accessories shown in this manual are deemed to be both typical, and suitable for, the installations intended. They are generally standard items, which carry with them the manufacturers guarantees components that are held in stock. Testing SMRF Frameless Casement Window has been independently tested at 1350 x 1500 to CWCT sequence B and has achieved the following results: -

Air Permeability 600Pa (class 4) Water Tightness 600Pa Wind Resistance 2400Pa

When tested in accordance with EN 13830 and the following results were achieved:-

Air Permeability 600Pa Water Tightness 600Pa Wind Resistance 2400Pa

Separate figures are available for Thermal U-values depending on type of glazing material.

Materials Extruded aluminium is aluminium Alloy 6063.T6 to BS EN 755 part9: 2001

Polyamide thermal barriers PA66 GF25 Anodising: i) Natural (Silver) anodised to BS3987, 1991. and ii) Anolok Bronze Colour 547 anodised to BS3987, 1991. Anodising is to a minimum of 25 microns (AA25). Powder Coating is to BS6496, 1984. Gasketry is manufactured in accordance with BS3734 and BS7412, cat A.

Glazing Note: All Glazing should be carried out to the recommendations of B.S.6262. Double glazing to 28mm may be installed into this window system. Each pane of glass is individually bonded into a fully prepared opening.

Site Installation Site fixing of finished frames should take into account all applicable standards with regard to both the method employed and safe working practices. Frame fixings should be suitable for the purpose given site conditions and materials into which the installation is to be made. If in doubt, please check with your fixings supplier regarding type and method to be used.

Size Limitations

Size limitations for each type of window vary. The following schedule is an indication of the SMRF system capabilities.

SMRF Frameless Casement SMRF.E.102 Glass To Frame Bonding Double glaze unit manufacturers must guarantee the structural integrity of the glass and performance and suitability of each unit on a project-by-project basis.

All double glazing units will be purpose made and suitable for use in this application and:

1. Should have opacified edges. (where agreed or specified) 2. Should have black spacer bars on all sides. 3. Should be dual sealed with seals that are suitable for exposure to UV light. 4. All visible edges should be ground or arrised edges to prevent the risk of injury.

This system has been designed for double glazing units of 28mm.

When vent frame is full crimped glass unit and vent must be sent off to a specialist sealant applicator to ensure the glass and vent are sufficiently bonded.

If required, when frame returns from sealant applicator, apply a silicone fillet to the inside of the glass/frame as shown. This seal is only for aesthetic purposes and is therefore not essential. Fabricator to determine colour and type of silicone.
