The 2015 Fall Team Tennis season has concluded with the Tigers finishing 4th out of 6 teams mak-ing the playoffs for the second year in a row. The overall record for the Fall Team Tennis season was 3-3. The team finished with a 2-3 record in District with wins over Burnet and Caldwell and losses to Liberty Hill, Lampasas, and Taylor. The non-district win was against Bastrop HS.

One of the highlights of the season was how Co-dy Spencer went undefeated in boys’ singles, un-defeated in boys’ doubles with partner Sam Gar-za, and continued the undefeated streak in mixed doubles with Serena Segel.

Tiger Tennis is looking forward to a successful Spring season with 4 Regional Qualifiers return-ing from 2015 Spring season.

The Cross Country team did a great job this year doing well in many meets bring-ing home some hardware in the process.

The kids competed in the Burning Pines Run in Bastrop and had the opportunity to help out a great cause which was a good experience for them.

Notable accomplishments from the sea-son include the JV girls finishing in 4th, 5th, and 6th place at the Rice Meet earn-ing medals. In the Round Top meet all of our teams placed in the top 10 and won 1st overall.

With several runners returning we are looking forward to next year!

Entering the 2015-2016 basketball season we worked to address many things including adapting to a new coach and a new system. We started the season by setting team goals making sure had a direction to go and a plan of how to get there. Our number one goal was to win a district championship. In order to meet that goal we determined we must im-prove on teamwork, becoming better basket-ball players, and being good citizens.

We are now in the middle of the district schedule and have dropped 4 of 5 games. While most people would consider this season a failure thus far we believe it has been a suc-cess. We have experienced tremendous growth as a team and the kids have become better basketball players. We have taken each district opponent to the limit and could have easily won those 4 games that were losses.

We still have so much to play for in the sec-ond half of district as winning the next 4 games would earn us a spot in the playoffs which we are quite capable of accomplishing that feat. We have not peaked as a team, and when we do, look out, we are going to be an impressive team.

The players are starting to believe in one an-other and are challenging each other to step up their game. We have players that are step-ping into leadership roles and running with it. We are not where we need to be but slowly we are getting there. The attitude is fully opti-mistic and the kids are hungry to improve. We are determined to make the playoffs. Eve-ry program has a starting point and this is ours.

The Lady Tiger basketball season started with a run of 6 straight wins which included a tourna-ment championship at Keene ISD.

As a team we set goals for the year which include getting back to the playoffs, having a 20 win season, and earning a spot on the Wall of Champions. We are on pace to reach each of the goals and our accomplishments are by-products of our successful teamwork and strong relationships.

As coaches it is our goal to build relationships with our athletes working to help them be good role models after being in our program. In our huddles before the games we state “everything matters because we all matter”

I have had such joy in coaching this group of girls. Our four seniors are some of the hardest working kids I have been around. The future for Lady Tiger basketball is bright.
