The ABC’s of Resume Review– A= Those resumes that are definitely interesting
– B= Those resumes that may need a second look
– C= Those resumes you know do not fit your criteria
Establishing which resumes fall into which category:• Is there a cover letter?
• Scan for overall impression of applicant
• Identify easy to find qualifications

1. Review applications annually.
2. Applications and other documents such as job descriptions and offer letters should be signed.
3. Don’t hire over qualified individuals.
4. Require every new employee to read company manuals and policies and sign acknowledgement form.

A critical aspect of the recruiting process is Orientation
It involves everything the new employee needs to know to become an integral part of the company. A great orientation will continue throughout the next 3 months and beyond.
• Include orientation information in hire letter
• On first day, give tour of facility, introduce staff
• Go over the basic operations of company and their department
• Review policies and procedures (how to clock in, lunches, etc)
• Review job description
• Fill out necessary forms
• Schedule a followup meeting (check in, see how things going)
