About us

In 2010, Skyway Luggage Company celebrated its 100th anniversary. After a century of business, Skyway celebrated not only reaching this milestone, but also the dedication and hard work it took to get there. Founded in 1910 by A.J. Kotkins, Skyway began its legacy as the Seattle Suitcase Trunk and Bag Manufacturing Company. Inspired by the promise of the budding air travel industry in the 1930's, the company began producing hand luggage, calling the pieces "Sky Way… Styled for the Sky".

The company officially adopted the name Skyway Luggage Company and enjoyed great success as an innovative force in the luggage industry, introducing such features as chrome hardware, vinyl covering, and, in 1972, wheeled luggage.
