WHAT’S NEW IN SIROVISION 6.1?

New methodology to georeference underground 3D images using a levelled

crosshair laser.

A new methodology has been developed to enable the client to capture the

images required to produce a fully georeferenced 3D mosaic of the

underground heading in less than 5 minutes. This new method

eliminates the requirement for theodolite survey support in order to

georeference underground 3D images captured by the Sirovision stereo

camera.

This method is simple and fast to setup and requires:

1. A specially constructed robust crosshair laser unit to project 9 red

dot lasers in a crosshair distribution on the face wall. This laser

must be set on a tripod and manually levelled for tilt and elevation.

Distance to the face should be between 3 to 8 meters.

2. A single alignment dot laser projected on to the face wall from a

known location and with a known bearing, elevation and distance.

Most mines already have these set up in order to plot grade lines.

Once setup, the client can photograph the whole heading as normal

without having to set out and survey control points.

On average, the crosshair laser method georeferences 3D mosaics

within 5 centimetres of the traditional theodolite control point

method.

NEW STANFORD *.PLY AND WAVEFRONT *.OBJ DATA EXPORT

FORMATS ADDED.

3D images generated in Sirovision can now be exported in Stanford *.PLY and

Wavefront *.OBJ file formats.

Both formats are very commonly used and importable in to other major

mining, CAD and GIS software packages.

UPDATED SUPPORT FOR THE LATEST NIKON AND CANON

CAMERAS

The latest SDKS from Nikon and Canon have been added to enable

compatibility with their latest cameras as of December 2015. This

enables RAW images from the latest Nikon and Canon cameras to be

read in to Sirovision and converted in to TIFF images.

Any camera and lenses can be custom calibrated for use with Sirovision

using a new procedure where the client captures and sends sample images

to Datamine who return a custom calibration file for each camera and lens

combination.

Sirovision has been fully tested and is compatible with the new Windows 10 operating

system.

GRAPHICS CARDS

After installation, if the host computer has an NVidia graphics card, the first time

the program is opened, the software checks that the CUDA library is at least

Version (8.17.12.6776). If it is not, a message displays informing the user to

update their graphics driver, so that the latest CUDA library is installed. This is not

an error message and does not mean your graphics card is incompatible.

As a rule, always update your computer to use the absolute latest graphics card drivers

available, even if it is a new computer.

MATLAB 2016A

Matlab 2016a is a prerequisite program that must be installed in order for

Sirovision V6.1 to function correctly. The Sirovision installer will run a check

whether this software is already installed and install it if required.

Matlab 2016 is an 800MB installer and can take up to 15 minutes to install. Once

complete, open CONTROL PANEL and select PROGRAMS & FEATURES and check

that MATLAB RUNTIME 9.0.1 has been installed.

ISSUES RESOLVED IN SIROVISION V6.1

The following cases have been resolved for this version:
