MarkhamFairMarkham fair this year was an enormous success! We were very fortunate this year to have our bussing subsidized by the TDSB, making it a trip accessible to all. With almost 100% attendance amongst students and staff, we were set for a fun-filled day! Although the forecast called for afternoon showers, we were fortunate enough to have absolutely perfect weather. Students enjoyed arts and crafts, the animals in the petting zoos, exploring the vegetable competitions (wow there was some big produce)! Favourites were all of the candy for sale, amazing food (turkey legs, homemade goodies, poutine), and the SuperDogs show. In addition to all of the fun and treats, some of the most adored parts of Markham fair is our ability to travel back and learn lessons from a simpler time: churning butter, self-sustainability, enjoying the great outdoors, and being able to make connections between the food on our tables and how it’s grown/sourced. TheEcoSchoolprogramhasbeenalargepartoftheOslerculture.Lastyear,OslerwasawardedthePlatinumEcoSchoolawardforthe2ndyearinarow.Thishighestachievementisatestamenttothededicationourschoolhastowardstheenvironment.Lastweek,ourschoolteamattendedtheEcoSchoollaunchforthisyear,withmanygreatplanscoming!Itwillbeexciting.

OnSeptember20th,selectstudentsofSirWilliamOslerHighSchoolhadtheamazingopportunitytoattendWEDayattheScotiaBankArena.WEDayisthegreatestclassroomintheworld.Thisstadium-sizedeventisheldacrosstheUnitedStates,Canada,theUKandtheCaribbean.Itbringstogetherworld-renownedspeakersandaward-winningperformerswithmillionsofyoungpeopleandfamiliestocelebrateandinspireanotheryearofincrediblechangeandcharity.Thegoalisto

helplessfortunatechildrenaroundtheworld.Thestudentsandstafflefttheincredibleeventfeelingempoweredandenergized.ThestudentshavedecidedtofocustheirfundraisingattentiononsupportingAgincourtCommunityServices,TheHospitalforSickChildrenandwewillbeginaFirstNationsPartnershipProgram.Weareexcitedforafantasticyearahead.

All students are welcome to join our Osler Best Buddies group again this year. We are twinned with the Toronto French School. We have monthly social activities that encourage friendships and support families in our community. This will be Osler's 8th year being a part of the Best Buddies organization. See Ms. Tulk for more details.

TTC training program is starting again this year. It is open to any Osler student who would like to learn how to be independent on the TTC. It is run by the Boys and Girls Club every Tues and Thurs from 3-5pm. Students will need their own way home at 5pm. See Ms. Tulk for more info.
