SIMPLIFIED CARRIAGE FOR TESTING TRUCK K. I. The carriage described in [1] and made according to I. S, Krever's method for testing truck weighbridges has two knife-edges from which a pan is suspended. It is com- plicated in design and cannot be made in many weighing equipment repair workshops which do not possess the nec- essary facilities. The carriage described in [2] is simpler in construc- tion than the first, but it has one knife-edge which can be placed at a skew, thus leading to inconsistent readings of the weighbridge when it is being checked, and to errors in determining the calibration for one ton. The carriage designed by us (see figure) has the ad- vantage of using a pivot bearing with a cone-shaped block instead of a knife-edge and a stirrup, thus eliminating the possibility of skewing. Moreover, the pivot is threaded and can be adjusted in such a manner that its apex will be aligned with the beam knife-edges (or very close to it), thus eliminating a reduction in the sensitivity of the weigh - bridge which could be produced by a carriage made ac- cording to [2]. The carriage has a simple design and can be made in any weighing equipment repair workshop. The expediency of our design is confirmed by the experience of the Poltava weighing equipment plant, which has manufactured and is successfully using five such carriages. 1. 3. LITERATURE CITED S. I. Our instrument-making industry has produced in the last few years a large number of various types of scales. However, their application is not devoid of difficulties.
