Ushahidi in Haiti _ effectively report and map issues and needs related to survivors of the 2010 earthquake.http://haiti.ushahidi.com/ (inactive)

-Ushahidi developed an RSS feed for emergency information that required immediate assistance.

-volunteer translators and coders made it possible to launch haiti.ushahidi.com, a web-based platform to geolocate data that was then shared with response teams on the ground. When the Ushahidi teams could not find locations from identifying GPS coordinates, Search- and-rescue teams joined.

-U.S. Coast Guard and The U.S. Marines also used the Ushahidi platform.

The Haiti.ushahidi.com website eventually recorded over 3,500 messages received, with 2,227 received via SMS.
