Organ Prelude

Welcome Gradye Parsons

Choral Prelude I Am Bound for the Kingdom, Chancel Choir

Call to Worship Leader: It is easy to stand here in the valley of our comfort.People: We know what to expect and what is expected of us.Leader: But Christ calls us to the mountain top to receive a new

vision.People: We are not sure we are ready for that.Leader: Place your hope and trust in Christ, for He is your guide.People: Let us open our hearts to Christ, ready for the vision he

places before us. Opening Prayer Margaret FuquaLord, it seems so long ago that we heard your words at Jesus’

baptism. You reminded us that he is your beloved Son with whom you are well pleased. Again today we hear your words that we are to listen to him, to pay attention. Open our hearts this day, Lord, to hear the words of Jesus, to follow in his footsteps, and to serve You. For we ask this in Christ’s Name. Amen.

Call to Confession Just As I Am, Chancel Choir

Prayer of ConfessionWe want to celebrate. We don’t want to listen. We want to stay on the mountaintop with Jesus and set up a festival where everyone can come and play and have a good time. We want our faith to be one of entertainment. But you have called us to “Listen to Him!” You have

asked us to be ready for the journey. We cannot stay where we are, comfortable and snuggled down in the familiar. There is much to be done. Forgive us, Lord, when we are stubborn and willful. Remind us that you are with us, wherever we are. You call us from the mountaintop to go to the valley where this is struggle and strife; where healing is needed. Prepare us, Lord, for the journey. Help us to listen to you. Heal us, Lord. For we ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Silent Prayer of ConfessionDeclaration of Pardon

The Celebration Hymnal, P. 815 *Affirmation of Faith

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. The Apostles’ Creed

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

*Hymn No. 461 In Remembrance

The Invitation The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is Christ’s gift to His church. This boundless gift is offered without regard to denominational affiliation, church membership, or personal merit. Communion is a gift of grace whereby through symbolic elements of bread and fruit of the vine, we are mystically united with the presence of Christ. Jesus invites all who desire a living relationship with Him to dine at his table. All of our bread is gluten-free.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
