Citation preview
~ Welcome to the 22nd Annual ~
sierra nevadaworld music festival
Roots music is culture and tradition.
It’s the oral history of experiences lived by
common men and women. It reminds us of the
things we’re supposed to remember. It’s about
love and freedom and the human heart and
soul. It’s the message of the Patois
and the Mystery schools.
~ From our hearts to yours ~

maria ngartwakenmandala.com
I was born in an artistic family in Hong Kong. My father was a Chinese artist & teacher. In December 2004, I attended “Art as a Spiritual Path” mandala painting workshop. As I began to paint, I felt a strong connection with mandala art. The experience of painting my first mandala was amazing. It was truly a spiritual awakening and heart-opening journey. My mind was so peaceful. I could look at my mandala for hours and feel happy for no reason. It changed my way to see the world as everything is infinite. The mandala, for me, is a spiritual teacher. I learned to enjoy living in the unknown with full trust. I will continue to share my love and passion through mandala art.

hempress sativaFRIDAY / VIllAge STAge
This rising performer from Jamaica has vocals which soar with lyrical messages that are at times militant and at times
romantic, all within the context of modern roots reggae. Born to Rastafarian parents, including legendary selector Ilawi Malawi of the Jah Love Sound System, her exposure to the music industry
at an early age catalyzed her start as a performer by age 13. Playing with her own band, we welcome her debut at SNWMF.
yellowmanFRIDAY / VIllAge STAge
In 1980’s Jamaica, Yellowman triumphed in the dancehall toasters style with some of reggae’s biggest hits that carried him into the international market. With songs like “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt” he led the trend for artists to perform both on recorded tracks, sound system style, and with a backing band. Yellowman’s own Sagittarius band is one of Jamaica’s most well-loved, and supports his “wheel and come again” getting “forwards” for decades. He has traveled the globe delivering his unique chanting style over classic rhythms. This is his first performance at SNWMF! Be sure to catch his set as Mungo’s Hi Fi’s special guest in the Dancehall Friday night.
admiral tibetFRIDAY / VIllAge STAge
This Jamaican roots singer first came on the reggae scene in the mid 1980’s with songs that reflected the struggles of his
fellow citizens as well as every-day morality tales. It was during this time known as the “digital era” of reggae, that Admiral
Tibet stood out as one of the only artists to focus on conscious themes in his lyrics. Since that time, he has toured extensively in
the U.S., Europe, Japan and the Caribbean. As for the origins of his stage name, as a youth, he and his cousin were looking at an
atlas and he saw the name Tibet and it stuck!

Alex Nicoletti shared his beautiful smile and great hugs with us since a young child. He joined the SNWMF family our first year in Marysville. His grandfather, Bob, and then his
father, John, have been the SNWMF beer concessionaires for 22 years. Alex was always by their side and always such a bright, cheerful and uplifting spirit. We know he is with us this
weekend. Our heartfelt love to Alex’s large and loving Nicoletti family, and an especially big hug to his beloved children, Kristiana and Ronin. We love you Alex.
