Introduction & Research Methods:
Krupa Medical stores are a Hyderabad based local medical store in Koti. They deal in all
possible medical equipments and even provide for nurses and attendants. The store is located
in one of the most famous business centres and had good flow of business until recently, with
its customer slowly but steadily decreasing in number. The owner of the medical stores asked
the help of a consultant and analysed the situation.
The major two issues pin pointed by the consultants were:
1. the accessibility of the store, as customers want the stores to be at a location wherethey can easily access them
2. The major hospitals of the city were located in other parts of the city and thus thebusiness was going to those medical stores rather than Krupa which was on the other
part.
3. The other major issue was the travelling time and congestion on the route to Krupa, the customers had a tough time due to this then also there were new competitors
cropping up like Apollo, Mediplus offering discounts and free home delivery.
Thus a raw research data was collected by surveying 100 people. The data was then analysed
thoroughly considering various parameters and the recommendations were finally framed for
the store.
Hypothesis in regard to
1. A hypothesis relating to customers rating of the store depending on how far away theylive from the store
2. A hypothesis relating to the types of customers who spend the most money at KrupaMedical Stores.

Data setup
The data was imported into SPSS and was analysed according to SPSS help guide
y Surety was checked regarding all numbers are within expected bounds of validanalysis and computation
y Negative weight scales were reversed for ease of understanding as well ascalculation.
y Some basic descriptive were also performed in the process.
Preliminary Exploratory data analysis
Three scales were constructed Store rating, convenience of reaching the store, availability of
drugs and were used to make an overall satisfaction scale.
Details:
Three new variables were created which were (a) Store Quality which was average ofvariables Good and Big to find how customer rated overall quality of store, (b) Store
Convenience which was average of variables Near, Fast and Easy Drive to find how far wasthe store convenient to reach for people and (c) Drug Quality which was average of variables
New, Cheap and Fully Stocked to find out how people rated the quality of drugs available at
store.
y Some Recoding was done in case of customers into near (1&2) and far (3&4)y Data was broken up by customer type and location

Research Analysis (1)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
Comparison of spend between locations by splitting the data as per near and Far customers.
Output:
Table 1
.
Research Analysis (2)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
Comparison of spending between customers types i.e. the average spending of a Private
Citizen & health Professional.
Output:
Table 2
Result Inference: Private Citizen as health professionals have more purchase related to
medical stores in their day to day life because of greater exposure to the medical field.

Research Analysis (3)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
Compare ratings by customer type and location
Output:
Table 3
Result Inference:
By looking at Table 3 we see that the mean difference in rating is not so much between
different groups of people and/or location.

Research Analysis (4)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
Are there differences in rating between different groups? (The following shows an
Independent Sample t Test.)
Output:
Table4
Result Inference: By looking at Table 4 we see that the rating is almost the same.

Research Analysis (5)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
Are there differences in each customers ratings of Satisfaction and Store Convenience? (t
test paired samples)
Output
Table5
Result Inference:
By looking at Table 5 people are over all satisfied with the store service. So forth to keep
loyal customers coming and attracting more customers better service is also a better option
as the store has little advantage on the side of store convenience.

Research Analysis (6)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
Is there any correlation between spend and distance? Between store ratings and spend? And
checking correlation between various other interesting variables:
Output:

Research Analysis (7)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
What best predicts customer satisfaction
Output:2
Table 8
Dependant variable = Customer Satisfaction
Result Inference:
For Output 2: By looking at Table 8 i.e. when the multiple regression was conducted the r
came out to be .502 which means that the factors we took for calculation fairly predicts the
output i.e. customer satisfaction.

Research Analysis (8)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
What best predicts repeated number of visits?
Output 1: Correlations

(Table 10.1 & 10.2 {order wise}).
Result Inference:
For Output 2: By looking at Table 10.1&10.2 get a fairly large r and thus suggesting that
location , customer type are more of the determining factors and thus can be used to calculate
the number of visits
Research Analysis (9)
Statement of the Exploratory Data Analysis:
Is there a difference in the factors determining the amount of spending among Private citizens
and Health professionals?

13
Output 1: (Table 11 )
Result Inference:
Store quality is not of significant importance and thus more weight-age can be given to other
parameters to improve speedings per visit.

Recommendations for store:
Store quality is of importance to health professionals coming from near by locations as per
research analysis and thus this parameter should also be taken
