If you need furniture for your home, Stockport Homes’ Furnished Tenancy Scheme could help you.

What is a Furnished Tenancy?Stockport Homes’ Furnished Tenancy Scheme helps people who do not have furniture, or sufficient funds to buy furniture, to set up home. Who runs the scheme? The scheme is run by Stockport Homes’ Resettlement Team. Stockport Homes retains ownership of the furniture at all times.

Are there any charges?A small service charge is added to the rent of the property. If you are on a low income, you may be entitled to claim Housing Benefit, this will cover all or part of the charge.

Do I have to pay a deposit?No, there is no requirement to pay a deposit or bond.

Who is responsible for the furniture?The Resettlement Officer will arrange for the repair / replacement of items that are faulty or damaged due to normal wear and tear. They will also arrange for annual safety checks on electrical items. However, the tenant is responsible for keeping the furniture in a good, clean condition.

How is the furniture protected?All furniture is security marked and photographed. The furniture is unique and recognisable in design and it cannot be purchased through any high street retailers.

Can I choose the furniture?Yes, there are different furniture packages for you to choose from. In general, the furniture package consists of the following items:

• Sofa • Bed • Cooker• Fridge • Carpets • Curtains

You will also have a choice of colours for your carpets, curtains and sofa.

Is the furniture good quality?We ensure the furniture is of excellent quality and meets the British Standard Safety Regulations.
