“The Silk Road ” a network of trade routes from the Far East to the Mediterranean …

From its birth BC, through the heights of the Tang dynasty, the Silk Road played a unique role in foreign trade and political relations. Stretching over 4.000 miles, from Eastern China to the Levant, from where the merchandise was shipped across the Mediterranean.

It marked the development of civilizations on both sides of the continent and its story is far from over.

With the latest changes in political and economic systems, international trade is ongoing, on a scale considerably greater than that of old, the iron horse replacing the camels and horses of the past…

The Mediterranean alternative

European supply chain flows have to define a new ne twork mappingincluding the Southern alternative.

Fluidity and efficiency in our consolidated network , competitiveness of our flows can only increase if we consider our Euro pean territory as a platform with DOUBLE ENTRY.

At the center of this strategy: proactivity and pro ductivity

- The right infrastructure for each core traffic - Multimodal diversified routes on short and long distance with a strong incentive

to massification - Dedicated and efficient logistics solutions

-Fluid administrative formalities…

Marseille Fos can play this role in France for cont ainers and for other flows.

“Seaborne International Trade requires efficient ports…

China to the Mediterranean took several months in those old days.

Today it is a matter of less than one month for a container to reach Marseille Fos from China !

Last March in Lyon, Mr. Xi Jinping reminded us of a historical fact …

…Lyon was one of the important arrival points in Europe for the Silk Road that started in my native

Shaanxi province."

What is the situation today ?
