The Cornmill is an outstanding contemporary five-bedroom home. Located in an exclusive hamlet that boasts a wonderful residents’ woodland and private lake, making this the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

An aspirational property approached via remote controlled entrance gates into a large courtyard providing parking and triple garaging. The house overlooks an outdoor swimming pool and beyond over lawned grounds.

Boasting privacy yet having the comfort of neighbours of similar stature, the property is only a few minutes from Shepley station, and within commuting distance of the M1 network. There are some excellent local schools for children of all ages, as well as superb private schools in Huddersfield and Wakefield, making this an ideal location for families and professionals.

Seller Insight “We were the first to own this house after its conversion eleven years ago,” says Annabelle. “It began life, as the name would

suggest, as a mill, but it has since been transformed into a really beautiful and incredibly spacious family home that I think anyone with a passion for architecture will really appreciate.”

“We purchased the property at the first fix stage, so we were able to really put our stamp on the interior, but I would say that it was the wonderful sense of space throughout that initially drew us to it. We wanted a home that would grow with us as a family, and as the house has lots of generously proportioned rooms that are flexible in terms of their use, it suited our needs perfectly.”

“All of the downstairs rooms open onto the garden, so during the summer months in particular there’s a wonderful connection between inside and out; the living space seamlessly extends into the garden.”

“Outside we have a raised deck terrace with a heated exercise pool, which we have all loved and try to keep going as long into the start of winter as possible, and the rest of the grounds are laid to lawn. It’s a very large and attractive space that has been an absolute paradise for the children in particular.”

“We are just a few minutes walk from the village, the main Penistone Road and the railway station. All are such a short distance away, so everything is within easy reach, but in no way impacts on the peace and tranquility of our immediate surroundings.”

“The garden backs onto around ten acres of woodland that we and two other neighbours equally share,” says Annabelle. “There’s no public access, so it gives us privacy and it’s also a lovely place for walking. The treasure of being able to walk directly from your garden and never have to cross a road is priceless, in my opinion.”

“This is such a beautiful home and one that has so much to offer,” says Annabelle. “We bought it as our forever home, however our circumstances have now changed, but I’m sure whoever owns it next will be every bit as happy here as we have been for the past eleven years.”*

I see this as a home that can be what you want it to be; it’s versatile and extremely conducive to modern

living. The kitchen is open plan with a lovely big seating area, so a really great family space, but there’s also the possibility of having a beautiful dining room for big family get-togethers or more formal occasions in the atrium living space.

“Our favourite part of the house is the area that we call the Atrium, the large sitting room,” says Annabelle. “The double height combined with the glass ceiling and old cart entrance being fully glazed, so much natural

light floods in.

But what I particularly love about it, is that it has such a calming atmosphere. It can be blowing a gale outside, but inside it’s warm, peaceful and, despite the grand scale of the

room, has a very cosy feeling.”
