Individual Paper Now that you have performed live or turned in

a recorded version of your performance, you need to reflect on the experience of preparing, practicing and performing a Shakespearean piece.

You will compose this reflection in a 1 – 2 page paper that is typed in MLA format (heading, title, double-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font)

The paper is due on Wednesday, April 15.

What do I reflect on? PREPARATION:

What piece did you choose to perform? Why did you choose this piece? Did you choose to work alone, with a partner or group? How did you choose the people with whom you

worked? How did you decide who would play who? Do you feel like you put enough thought and effort into

the preparation for this project? If so, what did you do that made you feel this way? If not, what do you wish you would have done differently when preparing?

What do I reflect on? PRACTICE

How did you manage your time to practice your scene? What did you do during practices to improve your

performance? What strategies did you use to memorize your lines? Were

you successful? What was the biggest obstacle you experienced while

practicing? How did you overcome it? Or did you? What was the most successful experience you had during

practice that really made a difference in your performance? Do you feel like you put enough effort into practicing your

performance? Was one week of class time enough to practice your scene?

What do I reflect on? Performance

Overall, how do you feel about your individual performance (whether you worked with others or by yourself)? Do you feel like you put forth your best effort during the performance? Explain.

If you worked with someone else or a group, how you feel about the collective performance? Explain why.

What made you most nervous or apprehensive about performing for your peers?

Based on the rubric description for the performance, what grade do you think you earned for the performance? Justify your response with details from the rubric.

What do I reflect on? Application

Do you think this was a valuable assessment? Why or why not?

What are you taking away from this experience as a whole? What have you learned about yourself, your peers (if applicable), literature and the art of performance?
