Selon le député du Mouvement militant mauricien (MMM), les nombreux projets de logements sociaux annoncés depuis 2006 n’ont jamais été

concrétisés. Il a critiqué la taxe sur les SMS en parlant de taxe sur la liberté d’expression de la jeunesse.

Les débats budgétaires se sont poursuivis ce samedi 12 novembre et c’était au tour du député de la circonscription No. 3 (Port-Louis Maritime /Port-Louis Est), Adil Ameer Meea, de prendre la parole. Ce dernier a axé son intervention sur les mesures prises afin de doter les plus pauvres d’un logement.

Adil Ameer Meea estime qu’il y a environ 30 000 demandeurs pour les logements sociaux actuellement et que le nombre de squatters est en nette augmentation.

Aslam Hosenally, ex-Lord maire de la capitale et

candidat de l’alliance de l’Unité et de la Modernité au No 3, considère que c’est sa sincérité, sa loyauté et ses compétences qui ont fait pencher la balance en sa faveur lorsque le ticket au No 3 lui a été alloué. Aslam Hosenally croit dans la méritocratie et remercie le leader du MMM, Paul Bérenger, pour la confiance placée en lui.• À quand remonte votre engagement politique? - Encore adolescent, je suivais le parcours du leader historique Paul Bérenger pour sa lutte en faveur des travailleurs du transport, du port, des artisans et laboureurs. J’avais une admiration pour cet homme qui a lutté seul contre tous pour la reconnaissance syndicale. En 1984, à l’âge de 18 ans, moi, un enfant de Plaine Verte, j’assistais à toutes les réunions du MMM. Quand le parti a célébré son 15ème anniversaire j’étais présent. J’habitais Camp Yoloff qui faisait partie du no 4. J’étais un sympathisant car Lloyd Baligadoo était mon voisin et mon professeur à l’école primaire Edgar Laurent.

J’ai intégré la Commission Jeunes pour donner un coup de main et en 1996 j’ai été nommé secrétaire de l’aile jeune au niveau national. J’ai été nommé membre du comité central en 2005 et j’ai été désigné pour être le Lord Maire de la capitale en 2012.• Est-ce que la loyauté compte pour obtenir un ticket pour les élections? - C’est au parti de désigner les candidats. Il existe plusieurs critères pour

le choix d’un candidat. Dans mon cas personnel, j’ai gravi tous les échelons au niveau du parti. J’ai été récompensé pour ma compétence, ma sincérité et ma loyauté au parti dans les moments difficiles. J’ai été à la hauteur de la confiance placée en moi durant mon mandat comme Lord-maire et mon intégrité à été salués par les conseillers de tous bords. Dans ma région, tous ceux qui me connaissent savent que je suis un homme de terrain d’une grande disponibilité. Le choix de ma nomination comme candidat du MMM a fait l’unanimité à Plaine Verte, Roche-Bois et Ste Croix.

• Quels sont les autres critères? - J’ai déjà énuméré une liste de critères. Vous savez l’humilité d’une personne est un facteur important ainsi que votre disponibilité et votre capacité à résoudre les problèmes de vos mandants. Je suis né à la rue Paul Virginie et je connais Plaine Verte comme ma poche. Je ne crois pas qu’il y a d’autres facteurs, à part la méritocratie, qui entrent en jeu.• Vous aurez en face de vous des candidats de calibre comme Raouf Gulbul, Anwar Husnoo, Salim Abass Mamode et Cehl Meeah. - Ce sont des adversaires politiques et non des ennemis. Ils ont choisi leur camp et je leur souhaite bonne chance. Sur le terrain honnêtement je ne rencontre aucun gros problème et les habitants nous accueillent à bras ouverts. J’ai choisi de faire la politique pour servir l’électorat et non pour me servir. L’important pour moi c’est que cette élection se passe bien dans la paix et le respect de l’adversaire car après les élections nous aurons à côtoyer nos voisins. • Si vous aviez un pronostic à faire à 3 semaines des élections, que diriez-vous ? - (Rires) J’ai déjà donné une indication en vous disant que les habitants nous accueillent à bras ouverts. Donc, la victoire ne pourra nous échapper.
