Setting up CPS

Download the CPS software from www.einstruction.com by clicking on Support, then downloads.

Scroll down to CPS v. 6.71 (new – Windows Software) and click the green Download icon.

Once the software is downloaded, locate CPS on your computer. By default, it usually saves under your programs in eInstruction. 

 

Once CPS is open, create a New Database. I named mine “Fall 2011.” Save the file somewhere YOU can find it. I save mine on my desktop or my H drive.

Under the Prepare tab and under Classes and Students, click the green plus sign to add a new class. 

 

Complete all the information requested.

By checking the box that you want to make another class, you can repeat these steps to create each class. 

 

Once your classes are created, use an Excel spreadsheet to import your students’ names and clicker numbers.

Do a “Save As.” I save my spreadsheet as “1st Block Student Import.” The Save As Type should be “CSV (comma delimited). Select this option using the drop down menu. Make sure to save your file where YOU can find it. 

 

Go back into CPS, and under Classes and Students, click Import and select Other Sources.

Select Comma Separated Values (*.csv) 

 

Click Browse and locate your Excel sheet. Click Open.

Click Ok. 

 

Check the name of your file and click next. Then, click done, and your class import is complete!
