In addition to our product showcases and events, we will also be holding a variety of informative sessions on our booth and throughout the convention center. These sessions will introduce new initiatives and developments at American Eurocopter and will include Keycopter training classes, a Keycopter user seminar, the introduction of online technical publications, and much more. Email updates for the specific sessions will be sent out and more information will be come in our January Customer Support Newsletter. The American Eurocopter booth is #1917 and we look forward to seeing you at the show! FDC/Aerofilter recently announced an increase in the service life of its inlet barrier filter (IBF) elements for the EC120, AS350 and EC130 to 4500 hours, with no limitation on the number of cleanings. In addition, the recommended service interval has been increased to 300 hours. The FAA also recently approved a revision to the flight manual supplement for the FDC/Aerofilter’s EC120 IBF, allowing operation of EC120s equipped with this IBF in accordance with the performance sections of the basic rotorcraft flight manual as long as the aircraft passes the basic flight manual engine health checks. This change eliminates the hover ceiling, rate of climb, and gross weight penalties previously imposed on FDC/Aerofilter IBF-equipped EC120s. Meanwhile, Donaldson Aerospace & Defense has obtained FAA approval for the use of its IBF system on the new AS350 B3e, which is equipped with the high performance Turbomeca Arriel 2D engine. The AS350 B3e has been added to Donaldson’s existing Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for both single hydraulic (PN#112005-101) and dual hydraulic (PN#121001-101) AS350 B3es. Simplex Aerospace has received FAA STC approval for a new powerline insulator and windmill cleaning system for the AS350 and AS355. The system utilizes a 180- gallon water tank for extended on-station operation, and an extended spray nozzle boom for increased mission effectiveness. The system also features a power-assisted operator control, for reduced operator fatigue. Simplex has partnered with US Airmobile Inc. to offer dedicated training for the use of this optional equipment, the duration of the course – which can be performed at the operator’s location – being between five and seven days. Further information can be obtained from www.usaairmobile.com.

AEC Attends EC145 Mercedes-Benz Event

American Eurocopter representatives and customers participated in an EC145 Mercedes-Benz customer event held at Eurocopter Deutschland in Donauworth, Germany earlier this month. The event, attended by operators from across the globe, provided an opportunity to see the first production example of this new corporate/VIP configuration for the EC145 family, developed in partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

The EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style configuration includes unique external styling features, including new landing gear fairings and a reprofiled nose, and introduces a bespoke reconfigurable interior for between four and eight passengers. The Mercedes-Benz cabin includes customized seats, cabinets, flooring and lighting, plus a glass cabin/cockpit partition and a range of entertainment systems.

Additional dedicated storage is provided in the clamshell door-accessed baggage area, and the

cabin and cockpit is finished with color coordinated leather trimmings.

For more details on the EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style, please contact your local American Eurocopter Regional Marketing Manager.
