The separation and filtration process takes place according to a new, unique and
patented concept, which is applied throughout all of the range. The SEPAR 2000 series
is outstanding due its small physical size in relation to the effective flow rate. The
SEPAR 2000 should be installed on the suction side of the fuel system, between the
fuel feed tank and the engine mounted fuel lift pump.Fuel enters the filter through
either port A or B depending which is more convenient for installation, and using the
plug provided to seal off the unused port.
Fuel enters (A or B port) then the interior vane system gives circular motion to the fuel.
Fuel still in circular motion reaches the bowl section where water and heavier
particles are forced to settle on the bottom of the bowl.
Here the fuel passes the second vane system changing rotation, which separates smaller size
water droplets and ner particles.
Just below the lter element the fuel passage widens considerably, thus reducing its speed
and allowing even more contaminants to fall down in the bowl by gravity.
The nal ltration of the remaining contaminates accomplished by the long life lter element.
The clean fuel leaves the lter via ports C or D on either side of the lter.5

What Separ is made of The SEPAR 2000 brand of lters are manufac-tured from high quality non corroding aluminum alloy casting, heavy polycarbonate or metal bowls and stainless steel hardware. Single and Duplex systems are available from 80 GPH to 2060 GPH. The Duplex switch assemblies allow element re-placement while the engine is running.

Sizing of the SEPAR 2000 lter: The ow rate 1/min of the lter has to be higher than the maximum capacity of engine mounted fuel lift pump.

It is advisable to use switchable lters for marine applications,especially when a vessel is tted with only one propulsion engine.

IMPORTANT: Only clean diesel fuel should be used to clean clear plastic bowls, certain cleaning chemi-
cals can attack the plastic material and have a detrimental effect. Only use compatible fuel additives.
SEPARFILTER The SEPAR 2000 should be installed on the suction side of the fuel system, between the fuel feed tank and the engine mounted fuel priming pump.
Install the lter in an accessible position to allow water and particulate removal and lter element change (a minimum of 4 is required for element change).
The lter housing has two inlet and two outlet ports to give options on installation position.
The ideal position for the lter is at the same height as the lift pump. However if the top of the fuel tank is above this position a full ow ball valve should be tted, before, the lter so that the fuel ow can be shut off to allow lter maintenance.
In application where the fuel level is below the lter it is still advisable to install a full ow ball valve to prevent fuel draining back into the fuel tank.
After lter installation on system without a positive head of fuel, remove the lter lid and ll with fuel to assist in priming the system.
Avoid sharp 90-degree bends on the fuel system piping as these increase system pressure drop, as does any reduction in the internal diameter of fuel piping.
Check all ttings are tight and free from leaks.

FP-301 Fuel Priming System
The Reverso Fuel Priming System pumps fuel into the fuel lines, purging
trapped air in the main feeding line and from primary lters,
secondary lters and engines.
To protect delicate fuel systems, all primers have integral pressure relief
valves which are factory set to deliver the proper fuel pressure for
each engine. Engine models available: MTU, MAN,
Detroit 2000 / 4000 series etc.
The Fuel Primer is an easy installation:
As simple as splitting the fuel line and connecting
each end of the fuel line to each side of the unit.
The Fuel Primer is easy to operate:
a) Close valve (on primer), open the air vent on lters or
engine and ip the switch.
b) When lines are purged, close the vents and open valve (on primer).
The Fuel Primer has small footprint base size

Replacement & Back ushing Instructions

The unique advantage of a Separ Filter is the ability to back ush the lter.
This reduces downtime and saves you lter element cost. Typically the Separ
lter can be back ushed up to 5 times before being replaced.

Step 1 Turn the engine off (or switch to spare filter in duplex set up) Shut off the fuel supply valve.
Step 2 Open the bleed screw This will break the vacuum in the lter allow-ing water and particulate matter to be released from the lter element.
Step 3 Allow water and dirt to settle into bowl. Large droplets of water/dirt will fall to the bottom of the
bowl.
Step 4 Open drain valve,
push in and turn.
Step 5 Drain out the
water/dirt that has
accumulated in the
bottom of the bowl.
Step 6 Close drain valve Allow
dirt/water to settle again.
As the fuel is drained out
of the separator in step 5,
more dirt/water will be
ushed from the lter and
will collect in the bottom of
the bowl.
Step 7 If necessary repeat
step 5 to 6. Open fuel
supply valve.
Step 8 Prime the filter. Close
the bleed screw.
Step 1 Stop engine or change to other lter if duplex system.
Shut off the fuel supply valve.
Step 2 Loosen the lid screws evenly
Step 3 Remove the lid
Step 4 Take out the spring cassette
Step 5 Lift out lter element by the handle Replace with new lter element Re- t the spring cassette
Step 6 Inspect lid gasket Replace if necessary
Step 7 Fit lid checking for correct positioning. Evenly tighten in the sequence shown.
Step 8 Open the fuel supply valve, prime fuel system and check for leaks.
